Green Bay

With

that river being connected to Green Bay, are you catching northern strain or is it the Great Lakes strain? That was a Great Lakes fish, wasn't it?

No, I think it was northern.

It was green like the ones we catch on the west side.

Like, I don't think you'd ever catch that in Wisconsin,

like in the lakes,

maybe green Bay for sure.

But, um,

Then the realization.

Then the slow, painful evaporation of those dreams, like fog over the Bay of Green Bay on a sunny day.

It is the sound of inevitability.

It is the sound of a legacy of losing.

Don't put on your winter tires until you're literally getting 40 degree temperatures all the time.

You might if you live in like Green Bay or the UP of Michigan or Montana.

You might see it or in Colorado way up in the mountains.

But also don't forget, heating is a big thing.

I'm fishing it a lotta different ways.

When I was out in Green Bay, uh, several years ago ...

You know, I love throwing Rippin' Raps in the spring and catching walleyes in Green Bay.

One of the funnest bites you can ever get on.

Well, the fish were tough that year.

I love that stinger hook on a hair jig.

It works wonders.

I know when we were out in Green Bay, if you didn't have that stinger hook on, you were catching about 1/3 of the fish.

It definitely has cost me.

I mean, Green Bay a couple weeks ago when we were at Oconto, if I would have kept... certain fish through the day on both days at Green Bay, I would have taken second place at Green Bay instead of fifth.

But again, I was swinging for a win, so I was throwing certain fish back because I wanted to win it.

And that's just the mentality I take.

And that's how I've always fished these grinders.

When I get a grinder of an event, the old adage, you don't leave fish to find fish.

You just sit in on those fish, And you force feed them basically like not quite, but like you just you sit where the right fish are and you just can't leave them because we do it on Green Bay all the time.

I mean, this last Oconto event for NWT was anomaly with how good of a bite it was usually on Green Bay.

I talked to Jaden about you.

the wyoming gov cup you guys went down and fished that and and had a top 10 against a bunch of boats and that was a cool experience the montana gov cup comes to mind a good finish over there the south dakota gov cup which was like unbelievable you fished some aims up here in north dakota and i know that you did good over i believe it was lake of the woods at the warrior tournament which is a big deal and then um you know you rounded out the nwt season with uh uh some good green bay tournaments and the championship to wrap up angler of the year just in an unbelievable unprecedented fashion so let's uh i'm just rattling them off on my own memory there but um dude we haven't talked about like any of those so looking back at the season since we talked on all those derbies give me the rundown what are some of the things that stick out as being the most fun maybe the most interesting fishing maybe just a looking back on this season best you can remember go ahead

yeah i just uh it's been crazy man um uh probably probably one of the coolest ones we fished this year was that glendo one to be honest that was uh that was one of the ones you don't forget we uh went there expecting kind of like for how crazy that bite can be and it was just like the most grindish bite that we've that i've probably ever fished um I mean, there was plenty of fish in there, but like for the big ones that, which they usually have a lot of big fish.

And I mean, for the big, big fish program we found, it was like drive out in the main river channel and where we're doing it, it was only like 45 feet deep and look through like a million suckers all day long.

It's phenomenal.

But I feel like some of these other tournaments, whether it's the GovCup tournaments or just some of these tournaments where it's not about points, when you're down in Wyoming with Jaden, like is that part of your guys's conversation of like this is risky but who cares we don't have points like let's just go for it and then on the ride home you're like dude what we did was just special we need to try that at the next nwt is there anything like that

so i would uh i would really compare my day two at green bay on the nwt this year to like my day two on um for peck uh so we'll start with pat because we were there first on day one we only weighed four fish for 40 pounds and that had us in like um i think it had us in 20th or something you know it was just yeah we just kind of missed something and and uh i mean we weren't on the five fish bite i mean i was i would have been really plum tickled with 50 pounds and I look at the weights, and I'm just like, gosh, man, we definitely missed something here.

I mean, I didn't cast at anything small, like just trying to be as efficient as I can because I knew it was going to be really tough to get five bites.

Yeah, there's another one down by Waukesha-ish.

It goes down to Illinois even, specifically known as the Fox River-Green Bay Tributary, as it eventually ends up emptying, as I said, into the Bay of Green Bay.

The second known river, as the Fox River, is the Illinois River Tributary.

It begins near Menominee Falls, specifically in the Halbach Swamp, and flows down through Illinois, eventually joining the Illinois River at Ottawa, Illinois.

Located in eastern and central Wisconsin, this Fox River is divided into two main sections and runs about 200 miles from headwaters to mouth in Bay of Green Bay of Lake Michigan.

The largest tributary of both the Bay of Green Bay and Lake Michigan, and the upper part is called the Upper Fox River Basin.

It begins in the town of Partyville, Wisconsin, flows southwest to Portage, Wisconsin, then north and northeast to Lake Winnebago, where it's joined by the Wolf River.

Then the lower Fox River Basin begins at the north end of Lake Winnebago.
