Greek New Testament

I mean, having done Greek and Latin, I remember getting a Hebrew dictionary as a school prize when I was like 16.

I think I'd read the Greek New Testament before I went to university.

So I wanted to do stuff that would help me be a Bible translator.

So obviously I chose to do a degree in Greek, Latin, Hebrew, and Aramaic.

So my doctrine is God doesn't need to give us a single word of scripture, not one.

then in actuality, I think he has given us every single one, right? So that's as bad a stark as you can get.

So I don't think that any words of the Hebrew Old Testament or Greek New Testament have been lost.

The King James Bible was created in 1604, and it was based upon the Textus Receptus, and the, the books that it was based on trace back to Erasmus in 1516, okay? And that 1516, um, book was built on Greek New Testament from about six or seven manuscripts that he could physically get his hands on at the time, and most of those were late 12th century.

None of them were older than the 10th century.

So the b- the KJV, just hear this again, particularly we're speaking about the New Testament because obviously we have older versions of the Septuagint and the Old Testament.

So using the latest text critical tools to help establish what was the, the original text or the, as far as we can reconstruct it.

And this is, this is, this is kind of what we, we tend to use, like, you know, Greek New Testaments like these.

These are what our English translations are based on.

But to put together something like a critical edition of the Greek New Testament, this is the Nese- Nestle-Aland, uh, 28.

There is good reason also for thinking that this part of his work reappeared in Matthew's Bible of 1537, and it has been said that Matthew is a pseudonym and perhaps stands for John Rogers, Tyndale's friend.

So far as the original text was concerned, he was limited to the Greek New Testament of 1516.

The manuscripts Erasmus used for that, five in number, are still at Basel, and not one of them is ancient, the most valuable of the five being one written in the 10th century.

That followed entirely in the translation of the Gospels was one written as late as the 15th century.
