Greatest Hits

... and Avenged Sevenfold, which I've just talked about.

A Queen Greatest Hits.

Very, very different bands.

A bit of Queen Greatest Hits one-

Yeah

... as well.

Yeah.

And then I remember for me, I was like six or seven and I had the Queen's Greatest Hits.

And as a seven year old, that music was just like so exciting.

And I remember having it on a little cassette player.

Mm.

Most people, their first exposure to Queen was either gonna be Bohemian Rhapsody, We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions, or that Queen's Greatest Hits volume one.

See, I remember, obviously, uh, Wayne's World, I think, may have been my first ever, "Ooh, what's this?"

Mm.

By the early 1980s, Queen were one of the biggest stadium rock bands in the world.

Another one, Bites the Dust, from The Game, 1980, became their best-selling single, and their 1981 compilation album, Greatest Hits, is the best-selling album in the UK and has been certified... nine times platinum in the U.S. by the Recording Industry Association of America, RIAA.

Their performance at the 1985 Live Aid concert is ranked among the greatest in rock history by various publications.

In August 1986, Mercury gave his last performance with Queen at Nebworth, England.

head.

For me, the big one was Queen's Greatest Hits album.

That was what soundtrack to our family did a couple of big family holidays to India and Malaysia.

I've got family in India, but also my dad's sister lived in Malaysia.

So we were away for five, six weeks at a time.

And I hated it because I wanted to be home with my pals.

But Queen's Greatest Hits got me through it.

So I could set my watch to that.

At the end of each side, from the very beginning, when we started QueenPod, we'd look at an album, half a side at a time, and at the end of each side, each person on the pod would pick their favourite track from that side.

If the track appeared on Greatest Hits 1, 2 or 3, we could have those for free.

That was the agreement.

And the idea was to try and draw attention, make a playlist of the album tracks that casual fans may not know.

It feels boring.

Let's see what happens when you shuffle a playlist.

And as each song comes up, we'll name-check the greatest hits and make sure we're happy they're all...

there for free if we want them we'll then discuss whether we agree with the choice for what's made it into the queen de la queen we will then also check that for any album that's prior to hot space what sam and paul would have chosen had it been up to them because they haven't had a vote on them yet And we'll also look at what, hopefully, Sam's actually got a breakdown of how the votes actually went.
