Greater Serbia

It is for the citizens of Serbia.

However, the problem is... that really in the movement we have narratives that are connected to the ideas of so-called Great Serbia, right, Serb nationalism, which historically was used by politicians to do a lot of damage in the region.

And when we talk about cross regional corporation across state, for example, with Bosnia, I think people are a bit skeptical when they see some nationalistic images or these symbols related to maybe war and conflict in the region, which is still shaping the current politics.

The movement is nationalistic to a way.

How can this reasonably be dismissed as simply a Western or anti-Serb conspiracy?

Well, I mean, that's a lot, right? But let's start with why is he a hero? So we have to go back all the way, I mean, at this point, over 100 years of what's a greater Serbia ethnostate ideology.

So if you look at who from World War Two is most present as far as like on the streets of Serbia and or Bosnia, you're going to see Dražo Mihajlović and anybody who knows who Dražo Mihajlović is, is the head of the Chetniks and the founder of the Chetniks.

who were, you know, a sort of Serb nationalist.

You know, they said that they really were representing the Serb kingdom and the Serb people and, you know, the idea that they could be an ethnically pure Serbia.

And that was going back to World War II, really, when they decided... to fight for that sort of Greater Serbia ideology versus the partisans who were the communists who also had a lot of Serbs as part of the communists who were more for the multi-ethnic Yugoslavia.

Well, if you look at today, who's most present of all the figures from World War II around the Serbian world, it's Dražo Mihajlović, who's the Greater Serbia guy.

So Mladic is not the first and he's not the last in line of, you know, people that a lot of people in Serbia and the Serb world, and I'm talking about Serb entity in Bosnia, also the Serb diaspora, consider a big hero because he's ultimately an ethnostatist.

That's literally how they view these kinds of things.

Draží Mihailović was considered to be the largest murderer of the Serb people among the Serb people of other people, right? In order to create a greater Serbian ethnic state, there were many other Chetniks, but he was the leader of the Chetniks and most deaths are attributed to him as the leader of the Chetniks, meaning the leader of the paramilitary technically is what they were.

So Mladic was also the leader of the Serb army and under his command were pretty much all the war crimes that happened.

because they were all part of what's known as the RAM plan, which was a plan to essentially eliminate the Bosniaks out of Bosnia and to create Greater Serbia.

And then later he became part of a group of military officers who were basically planning what to do if and when Yugoslavia fell apart.

And at that point, the idea was to create this Greater Serbia.

A line would be created.

covering kind of majority Serb or areas in Croatia.
