Gravest Gravy

The cool thing about this album, and if I was a huge Cramps fan, I would be so excited about this.

This album's called Gravest Gravy.

It's out now on Vengeance Records.

It was originally recorded at Ardent Studios in Memphis in 1977, but the album was shelved.

[rock music] With bootlegs and the internet, and Cramps fans being as intense as they are, it's amazing the Gravest Gravy tracks didn't find themselves on the internet.

It's just the fact that Lux and Ivy are very private people and kept stuff to themselves.

And Alex Chilton, uh, didn't exactly trust people, so he's not, like, sending out cassettes to people.

Pretty intense guy, and that's kind of the reason you have that.

Stephanie Chernikowski, the great photographer who did the cover for Gravest Gravy, she introduced The Cramps to Alex Chilton.

And from, uh, all reports, he saw them and was immediately obsessed.

He just went, "Wow, that's the band." And I, I, I could see how someone would come to that conclusion after seeing The Cramps.

It's a 76 page photo and story book by Jim Lanza.

you got to order direct from Jim but it says on the the ordering page or whatever only shipping to the US of a yeah only shipping to the US so we'll miss out on that one and we'll just have to you know get our cramps fix with gravest gravy which still not getting a copy of that here in Canada either apparently they pressed like way way too little for the the ultimate demand I think they kind of under anticipated the demand but hopefully there'll be a second run of gravis gravy and we'll we'll get more copies up here in canada eventually before the year is out i'd really like to be able to hear that record before we do our top tens at the end of the year
