Yeah, probably a little more familiar in the CCIE kind of lab space, what they would do for their sorts.
Bob PlankersHOST
36:31
Yeah, the GNS3 stuff.
Bob PlankersHOST
36:34
Yeah, the equivalent of that.
Eric NelsonHOST
36:36
Cool.

Do they have that level of inquisitiveness? Are they passionate about it? Do they go off on their own time and research this stuff? Do you go up and set up a virtual lab or a network lab? That's the kind of stuff that I used to do, just actually set up a lab.
Chris LoGUEST
48:19
I've got GNS3 as well, so I would actually go do all my networking stuff.
Chris LoGUEST
48:23
Yeah, this is the kind of stuff that I used to obsess about.
Chris LoGUEST

And when you find someone like that, it doesn't matter if they know the tech or not, because nobody's born with the tech knowledge.
BruceHOST

And these days you can use simulations.
BruceHOST
50:10
You can use simulators like GNS3 was one I used to use.
BruceHOST
50:15
I mean, I don't know.
BruceHOST
50:15
It does a long time ago, but.
BruceHOST
50:17
Like GNS3 is one I used to use.
BruceHOST
50:19
Another one was called VMware.
BruceHOST
50:20
But you can use free ones like, help me out here guys, VirtualBox.

When I was still, you know, clicking around the, what was it, Varo at that time, and other people were crazily chasing mouse around GNS3 screens, There was this startup that was, you know, pushing the crazy idea that maybe you should define the lab topology in a text file, and then you would just say vagrant up, and bam, the lab would be ready.
Ivan PepelnjakHOST
0:30
I bought into that.
Ivan PepelnjakHOST

I even bought... server to run Ubuntu on it and then I tried it out and I tried to build a DMVPN lab with that because I was into DMVPN in those days so you know how far away that was and it took me a day to debug that bloody vagrant file because all the numbers have to match between those two or three or whatever places and I was like Never, ever again.

GNS3 you called me out there buddy I went from GNS3 then I had a massive gap and then jumped to Vagrant because obviously Firefly was available and I ended up doing a lot and then there was a gap of years and years and years and years now one day I'm like oh hell I need to simulate a whole lab.
David GeeHOST
25:04
Where the hell do I begin? And I'm talking years at this point.
