Granville Island

Those will not only be big bucks.

We were in Vancouver this summer for the Zonta International Convention, and we went to Granville Island to the public market.

And when we walked in, there was a display of purses.

And, of course, we were very excited.

It's one of the requirements.

And Emily Carr, at the time, it was on Granville Island, beautiful campus.

And we had to draw spots as to where you were going to set up your grad show, okay? So I drew the primo spot, okay? right as people would come in into the studio, boom, there's my SkeetNyx display and aren't you lucky.

I could tell that, I could feel that some of the instructors were like, damn, we're gonna put that as our opening kind of welcome.

Way to go, Chase.

And so, I mean, it was weird to have one jar of nut spread glued to the wall, but that's what it was.

And I'm sure many people who went through the show went, hey, what's up with the nut spread glued to the wall? Anyhow, point being, We were opening at Granville Island a week later.

Myself and Ian Walker, who was my business partner at the time, Skeet Nikes was actually becoming a company.

Henderson Place Mall is an example of when a mall's purpose serves a big audience, is distinct, but ultimately not executed as well as it could be, which still makes it a heck of a lot more interesting than your mediocre run-of-the-mill suburban mall, even if we can't call it a great mall.

But what happens when a distinct mall, different than any other mall in Metro Vancouver, does execute its mission, even if it's on a very tiny scale? Join us next time when we cross over to Granville Island and know it's not the market you're thinking of.

And Granville Island in Vancouver is an example of that because tourists like to go there because the locals like to go there because it's a real place.

It's not just a paste on thing for tourists.

But beyond the locals, of course, you're trying to reach out in this job creation and bring people in from outside.

That's Vancouver Island.

Yeah.

Well, yeah, Granville Island, like brewing.

I was talking about the little island where you can go to restaurants.

We're confusing each other.

Yeah, yeah.

We were making a joke earlier because we're at Granville Island right now, enjoying a day.

And Nina, obviously, our goth queen, is sitting at the bench.

And I'm a person of color.

That was brutal.

We'll put our own music in.

I like brutal music, but I like it heavy and dirty and not this fucking turd busking in the middle of Granville Island.

He shouldn't even be here.
