Grantsville

We are hearing from a witness who saw the moment police confronted and shot a man in Tooele County yesterday.

Alex Madrigal tells KSL's Shelby Lofton he and his friend were driving down Sheep Lane between Grantsville and Erda when they saw a truck pulling a camping trailer swerve and roll.

This guy hops out of the truck, and then, uh, he's, like, jumping around.

He's, uh, has something in his hand, both of them, and he's yelling at the cops and, like, he goes to, like, take a step forward at him, and then, uh, cops had to open fire on him.

I was in a home that was not and kind of from a family that was a little bit anti and I was just really grasping for any sort of belonging.

I grew up in a small town in Grantsville, Utah, which is in Tooele County, where my experience is the more rural that you get, the more prominent the religion is and for me because of the chaos in my home it was actually kind of a sense of structure for me the Mormon church was my first introduction to like a higher power or anything like that so I did end up converting and then was pretty honest straight and narrow throughout high school I did drink one time in high school and I was reflecting on that and had no intentions to it was a promise that I made to myself like I'm not doing that my dad he has not been in my life because he's an alcoholic still to this day.

And I have only been around him a handful of times.

We have no relationship because of it.
