Grand Street and Grand Avenue

I mean, I was, like, in the middle of the electroclash birth of Larry Tee and all that stuff, um, in South Williamsburg, and we were, we were out pla- i- in Rubulad and different, like, crazy places.

And this was the time when, like, "Oh, I don't know if we should go past Grand Street," you know? "Oh my God, we're on South First.

Ah!" You know? Like, like that's the type of...

[laughs] Like, that was, that was kinda...

Uh-

And, like, Lux on Grand Street.

Oh, I never went there.

I remember Lux.

We bought a business in Brooklyn, uh, New York with the building.

It was a pizzeria on Grand Street, and that did well.

But my wife decided that she wanted to relocate, get a secondary degree down in Miami.

So we sold the building, sold the restaurant, and basically packed up the car and drove in one day right down to Miami, Florida.

This is a much quieter part of Williamsburg.

It's on Grand Street, Supremes block that way.

Maru from LA came here and They're right around the corner over here.

We're really close to the water.

My grandmother, for example, she came here in the early 60s.

She would walk over to Williamsburg Bridge or, you know, within the area, Grand Street, etc., She'll walk over or work in Grand Street and work in the factories or work at somebody's house and do all sorts of different things.

What'd she do in the factories? What sort of factory was it?

Well, she got hired by a Jewish family, and she was making buckles for shoes or belts.
