Grand Rounds

This is medical oncologist, Dr. Neil Love.

This program is a follow-up to a Grand Rounds initiative we carried out as a series of 20 live in-person presentations by several clinical investigators at institutions around the United States.

For those not able to attend one of these live sessions, we asked Dr. Erica Mayer from the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, one of the faculty members, to present this program, which includes reviews of a recent survey completed by the faculty on their treatment decision-making for patients with localized hormone receptor-positive breast cancer.

I also asked her a number of related questions that were posed by attendees at the live events.

Here's Dr. Mayer.

And patients have a recurrence score 0 to 25 and are randomized to what we might think of for these high anatomic risk as standard of care, chemotherapy, endocrine, and CDK4-6 inhibitor versus omission of chemotherapy, endocrine therapy, and CDK4-6 inhibitor.

So we await results of this really important trial.

Now, as I alluded to, I think we're all familiar with hormone receptor-positive breast cancer having a very long tail risk of recurrence.

Okay, so there were two more things in CDRH New.

Um, the trigger for this story came from a panel discussion actually at our Grand Rounds conference in Amsterdam last month.

It's a particularly interesting panel, I thought.

The panelists basically walked through three examples of late stage clinical failures in different cardiovascular settings, you know, discussing like what went wrong and what are the implications going forward.

So they took a whole lot of risk off the, off the table there, and he's saying, "Well, we're doing the opposite in our trial." So that's one way.

Very cool that we are giving listeners a little insight into what goes on at our Grand Rounds events.

Of course, the next one coming up will be in Houston early next year, and then we'll be in Lisbon a little later in the year for the next Grand Rounds Europe.
