George GormanPANELIST
4:57
Um, And he's just shown a bit more ground versatility.
George GormanPANELIST
5:00
Like when he won the Grand Prix de Paris, the ground wasn't too bad.
George GormanPANELIST
5:03
He actually won the Derby trial on good to firm.
George GormanPANELIST
5:07
That would be the horse I'd be looking at as my idea of the winner.
Joe LogueGUEST
13:08
He's kind of been upped in grade each time.
Joe LogueGUEST
13:10
He's won a Group 3 and then put away for the Grand Prix de Paris run, and then he was kind of, you know, put away again for another five weeks, and then he won a Group 2 last time out.
Joe LogueGUEST
13:18
Just like, like I said, one campaign to one day in mind, brought along slowly.
Joe LogueGUEST
13:22
I can just see him putting in a career best effort on Sunday.
Ross BrierleyHOST
52:57
Yeah
Maddy PlaylePANELIST
52:57
... and has improved and improved, and I thought he deserved plenty of plaudits for the Grand Prix de Paris win.
Maddy PlaylePANELIST
53:03
Got himself out of trouble, got Tom Marquand out of trouble.
Ross BrierleyHOST
53:06
Mm.
Lee MottersheadGUEST
28:12
Again, the ground is a factor.
Lee MottersheadGUEST
28:15
So Maltese Cross, the second favourite, British Raider, who won the Grand Prix de Paris this year, was second in the derby.
Lee MottersheadGUEST
28:22
He would be much happier on a quick surface.
Lee MottersheadGUEST
28:25
So he definitely will want the rain to go away from here on into the ground to dry out.
James WilloughbyGUEST
20:03
He looked like a horse devoid of a turn of foot.
James WilloughbyGUEST
20:05
But go back to the Grand Prix de Paris, and he looks like a horse with an electric turn [laughs] of foot.
James WilloughbyGUEST
20:10
So I don't know whether that was Y- the York surface at play again or, or what it was.
James WilloughbyGUEST
20:14
In short, I think this horse is a, is an awesome specimen.
Sam HartHOST
46:31
I don't think that Voulge form's working out at all well.
Sam HartHOST
46:34
Um, I get that he won the Grand Prix de Paris, which, you know, i- i- is over this course and distance, so it's a fair, fair price, maybe five to one.
Sam HartHOST
46:41
I can't have this horse at all.
Sam HartHOST
46:43
Uh, Kalpana, I agree with you.
David JohnsonPANELIST
20:23
You know, obviously just touched off, well, say just touched off, he was beaten fair and square in the derby, but his form has taken up to a new level since.
David JohnsonPANELIST
20:34
And obviously he did really well to win the Grand Prix de Paris in that four-way photo, didn't he? Locked up, nowhere to go, and just showed that really good attitude to get the job done there.
David JohnsonPANELIST
20:47
And then took his form up to a new level, definitely in the Great Voltage, under a penalty there.
David JohnsonPANELIST
20:52
And I think they've definitely made the right decision coming here.
Billy NashPANELIST
22:16
I'm not sure this year's three-year-olds are a stellar bunch.
Billy NashPANELIST
22:19
He's certainly one of the better ones of them, and he is improving.
Billy NashPANELIST
22:23
He's going the right way, but... um yeah i i just think my one concern with maltese cross would be whether he just has the tactical speed in the early part of the race i mean even the day he won the the grand prix de paris um i just thought he struggled a little bit through the early stages he got into plenty of trouble that day and maybe it was just because you know it was it was his stamina kind of won the day for him um i think if it turns into a proper test he'll be right there at the finish but i would just I'd be concerned about him meeting trouble again in an arc and he just mightn't be able to get out of it this time.
Graham CunninghamPANELIST
22:57
And also, I've just read it through the Sporting Life computer, lads, and he's drawn in the teens, Maltese Cross.
SpencerHOST
6:05
What is the plural? Grand Prixs, yep, that's it.
SpencerHOST
6:09
So, this is French from Grand Prix de Paris, France.
SpencerHOST
6:13
which is an international horse race established in 1863, and it literally means Grand Prize of Paris.
SpencerHOST
6:23
When you win the Grand Prix de Paris in horses, you have won the Grand Prize.
SpencerHOST
6:32
Congratulations to you.
SpencerHOST
6:35
Okay, that's...
