Grand Master Oogway

And, you know, even and it's not like a unique concept, right? I think we've all seen Kung Fu Panda.

I remember Master Oogway, that turtle in Kung Fu Panda.

He says, you know, yesterday is history.

Tomorrow is a mystery.

[laughs]

And this is Master Oogway.

[laughs]

And you are Po.

Some, like, wise turtle on a mountain like, "But be careful what you wish for."

Master Oogway looking ass.

Yeah.

[laughs]

Master Oogway.

[laughs] What would be the what, Troy?

What's, like, the concern or what's, like, the, the, uh, gray area or the red flag that I should l- I should look out for in thinking like that?

It is so much martial art wisdom in that movie.

If you look at the characters, what differentiated the turtle, which was Oogway, the, the, the grandmaster, and, and the...

I don't know what he was.

It was like a mouse or something.

Uh, Shifu, the teacher, right? Uh, he was a little mouse.

Was he ...

Oogway accepted everything as it was.

He never ...

So we are looking for something to add to the ordinary to make it extraordinary, and that's what Po is looking for.

And then his conversation with Oogway.

This was my favorite one.

This is- this is on the nose.

'Cause to be honest, most of it is, like, super obvious, and this is just one that is obvious but I never really thought about.

Is because he's having a conversation with Oogway.

Am I really supposed to be here? Am I enough for this? Should I just give up, 'cause I'm just me? And Oogway says, "Quit.

Don't quit.

[laughs]

Yeah, he's the splinter sort of, except there's an even older splinter who's a tortoise named Master Oogway.

What's up?

Well, this sounds like it would hit for me.

At the same time, you can ratchet down, you can slow the breath down, you can slow time down, and you can live in a different world, a different universe, a different place, the place of the internal turtle.

Yes, like Master Oogway in Kung Fu Panda, which I think actually may mean master, master.

Master Oogway the turtle in Kung Fu Panda, I think is master, master turtle.

You can slow things down.

And you can balance, you can pivot, you can breathe, and you can be.

remember us looking at each other after the opening scene, being like, holy shit, what are we watching right now?

And then the scene where Oogway died, and he fades away into glowing

flower petals.

Most beautiful music ever.

So finally, he convinced me to go see it.

I think I saw it with Becky.

And I remember, similarly to the Oogway scene, there's a scene where he first rides a dragon.

And he's flying underneath the stone archways above the ocean.

Yes, yeah.

He's like Master Oogway from Kung Fu Panda still going at it.

So how did you decide what styles you would

implement with what character? Oh, that's a great question.
