Grand Concourse

A memorial walk is being held later this morning in the Bronx to honor the memories of victims visiting 11 locations where children have been killed.

Begins at Elliott Place and Grand Concourse, the site where 12-year-old Jacob Freitas, you'll remember, was shot and killed in July.

Participants will carry the names of more than 400 victims with them as they walk.

The event starts at 1 this afternoon.

Not great, since his parents wanted him to become a doctor.

The family moved around a lot in the Bronx to various apartments, including a stately building on the Grand Concourse, which is the spine of the neighborhood.

Grand Boulevard and Concourse was its actual name.

It's a European style street-

And for somebody who is there and aware with a camera, the possibilities are endless.

Stanley was walking along the Grand Concourse on his way to Taft High School the morning of April 13th, 1945, which should have been an average spring morning, but it wasn't.

Just 14 hours earlier...

Like, certain people see it, they know.

They're like, "Oh, man, I know that, that's, that's Grand Concourse," you know.

You know what I mean? So, you know, there'll be, like, landmarks where they can, where they, where they can connect to it.

But I think beyond, like, those types of images, I'm always wanting people, like, uh, to connect on a, on more of an emotional level where the location doesn't really matter.

Yeah.

She wound up becoming a regular at a subway station at Grand Concourse and East 170th Street.

Of course she did.

The race kicked off near Yankee Stadium, taking runners on a 10-mile tour along the Grand Concourse.

Today's event celebrates New York Roadrunners' historic Bronx roots, complete with a kids' run and a post-race festival.

Congrats to all the runners.

But we all know why people don't act up.

at a festival on Arthur Avenue, but yet if you just move it up a few blocks up to the Grand Concourse, people are going to be out there acting like a fool.
