Grammy Award for Best Rap Album

We were disappointed in the outcome for years.

And then I started the year that Kendrick Lamar lost Best Rap Album and Best New Artist to Macklemore.

So I had a lot of work to do to rebuild bridges and relationships in the community, uh, which ended up, again, being kind of the highlight, is earning that trust and building, building those relationships.

Mm.

Context time.

Cardi is 34 and she was the first solo woman to ever win the Grammy's Best Rap Album.

She also dropped a single called Nonchart on October 18, tied to GTR 6, the album.

and the top 5 reports that she said in September she plans to get back in the studio after her November birthday.

We've, we talked about it ad nauseam at this point, but them Grammy considerations went out, so, uh, we need Wale to be considered.

Uh, he is submitted officially Album of the Year, Best Rap Album for Everything is a Lot, uh, for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Melodic Rap Performance, and Best Music Video for Watching Us with Leon Thomas.

Best R&B Collaboration for Over Think.

Uh, Best R&B Song for Like I. Shout-out to Andra Day, too, man.

BET Awards played with Wale.

Grammy, if you can hear me, don't play with, don't play with Wale.

I need Wale's Everything is a Lot to win Best Rap Album of the Year, because why? It was actually the best rap album of the fucking year.

We didn't get...

This isn't everything, but this is some of them.

Uh, so Rapsody has submitted her project, God Got A Afro (And Gold Hoops), for Album of the Year and Best Rap Album.

I think those are two worthy.

Uh, Album of the Year is the overall, uh, Album of the Year across genres, for people who don't know, and then Best Rap Album, of course.

And then she submitted the song God Got A Afro for Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, and Best Rap Music vi- Video.

I talk about this song all the time.

Uh, Baby Keem.

Baby Keem's official submissions for the 2027 Grammys.

I love Dochi.

I'm glad that she won Best Rap Album.

That was absolutely amazing.

And...

I know we got, uh, off track there.

Um, J. Cole's The Fall Off and Don Toliver, Octane are currently the favorites on Polymarket to earn best rap album nominations at the Grammys.

Who y'all betting on?

Who is it? J.

I think Octane might win...

Shit, it might be tough to give him Album of the Year.

I think Best Rap Album.

I don't think he's getting Album of the Year.

Uh, the museum says "E85" has a VMA nomination for the Best Hip-Hop, and Don has American Music Award nominations for the Best Male Hip-Hop Artist and Best Hip-Hop Album, plus a BET nomination.

And as of this week, Showbiz by APS reports that his team submitted "E85" for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Melodic Rap Performance, and Best Rap Song at the 2027 Grammys, and Octane for Album of the Year and Best Rap Album.

That's eight categories across the album and its two biggest songs.

These are reported submissions, so take them with a grain of salt, but it's clear messages to, to the voters.

Oh yeah, so Drake has only won five Grammys.

His first win was for Best Rap Album, uh, for Take Care in 2013.

Um, he won Best Melodic Rap Performance for Wait For You with Future and Tems at the 2023 Grammy, uh, ceremony.

Um, but the...

But he did this in 2018 with More Life.

Um, he withdrew the submission for Certified Lover Boy in 2022, and then with honestly Never Mind, uh, the following year he did the same.

Now his joint album with 21 Savage, Her Loss, was actually submitted for the 2024, uh, Grammys, but it lost Best Rap Album to Killer Mike's, uh, Michael.

I'm not, I'm not upset at, at Drake.
