Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance

On release, many critics accused them of trying to copy Pearl Jam, which I thought was a funny little tidbit, and the song won two awards.

It, it won an MTV Music Video Award for Best New Artist and a Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance.

And the funny thing is, here Dave is gonna get more points than Billy Macc.

Oh.

Interesting factoid, the male vocal you hear, the wake me up part, was performed by Paul McCoy from the band 12 Stones.

that was not a reason the band's creative choice the label pushed for a male vocal presence to make the song more radio friendly i do not understand that amy lee has said publicly that she didn't think it needed it but the song became their most recognized song and um i actually love that part where he's in there kind of rapping with it but nonetheless Another interesting factoid, this song won a Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance in 2004.

The album itself has gone on to celebrate 10 million copies, as previously mentioned.

This song, it's an emotional nerve.

Best New Artist.

Yeah, or like Best Hard Rock Performance, something like that.

Yeah.

Uh, I could s- I could see them winning a GRAMMY.

Michael Schumann, Dean Fertitta, John Theodore.

Queens of the Stone Age has been nominated for nine Grammy Awards for Best Hard Rock Performance, Best Rock Album, Best Rock Performance, Best Rock Song.

They've released eight studio albums with the ninth due out in October 30th of 2026.

So the timing on this episode hopefully benefits us.
