Somebody says, do you want to work with Allison Janney? It turns out like before the second syllable of the name is out, you're saying yes.

And then we were in a position where it was like, well, you know, Grace Penn needs a husband.

You know, it'd be really funny.

We used to call Brad and it was like a big joke and everybody was like, ha ha ha.

How early did you have an inkling of how you might cast that unseen vice president in the pilot?

We talked in the first season about, like, what was the Grace Penn story going to be? And then we decided at a certain point in the first season that we would never in the series see Grace Penn again.

Well, early on you decided.

Let me ask you this.

I did not think that he was going to win, so I'm pleasantly surprised about that.

I didn't think Kathleen, I thought Kathleen Lanassa would have taken it for the pit, but I thought Allison Janney's performance in The Diplomat was very good too, especially just with her performance and just the character of Grace Penn in that series is diabolical.

So I'm, she's outsmarting Carrie Russell's character every chance that she can get.

So I'm I was pleasantly happy with that.
