Grace note

She's the VP of design at the e-commerce giant Shopify.

We're going to talk about how she has encouraged her team to include what she calls grace notes in their work to prove that there is a human in the loop.

She has a ton of wisdom to share with us for anyone who wants to do great work, who wants to lead others in doing great work.

Speaking of descriptive terms, you use this beautiful phrase called, you call them grace notes to describe moments of humanity injected into design.

Where did that idea come from? And can you give an example of a grace note that people might not consciously notice, but that changes how an entire product or an experience feels?

Grace note.

Number two is a small addition or embellishment.

Maybe your gravel walkways are grace notes to your statues.

There is no etymology.

It's a note.
