Peter WindsorHOST
44:03
I mean, absolutely quick.
Peter WindsorHOST
44:06
He was Charles Leclerc quick in GP2.
Peter WindsorHOST
44:08
But, you know, that's one thing, GP2.
Peter WindsorHOST
44:11
But at the level that he's now at, I don't think he's progressed very much.
Peter WindsorHOST
44:17
Aaron.

23 MINS LATER

Peter WindsorHOST
67:22
And it's kind of how it's worked out.
Peter WindsorHOST
67:23
Johnny, yeah, you know.
Peter WindsorHOST
67:26
I don't know I don't really want to talk about that too much because it's quite a personal thing Johnny's a very close friend of mine and I do know exactly what happened and why he didn't get that position so but it would be inappropriate for me to talk about it on the live stream I'm afraid and all I can do is leave it at that but I think Johnny would have done a very good job and I don't think he would have run it the way his dad or Claire ran it I think he would have used a lot of his mates from GP2 specifically the iSport guys with whom Johnny had a close link they would have been brought into the management as well would have been good racers on the ground and there would have been some good engineers there as well I think it would have been a very very good team but for whatever reason never happened which is a great shame and it's a great shame today I think that Johnny isn't used by Williams they've got lots of other people with no association with Williams at all when it comes to history really but Johnny's out there the world's most knowledgeable person on Williams history chassis numbers results everything and he could be a perfect you know roving chairman of Williams going around the world as an ambassador for the company but As far as I know, they have no interest in talking to him at all, which gives you some insight into the way the current Williams team think and operate.
Clark RogersHOST
2:07
And Liam Lawson, he's going country in Austin, Texas with a show for the people.
Clark RogersHOST
2:15
And Fernando says, we're back to GP2, GP2, GP2 engine.
Clark RogersHOST
2:20
Ah, And this week's Nasser Hamid Corner, the interviews are two Formula One World Champions.
Clark RogersHOST
2:31
We have Lando Norris at the tip of the beginning.

50 MINS LATER

Nasser HameedCORRESPONDENT
52:28
I remember you from your days in Formula 1.
Nasser HameedCORRESPONDENT
52:31
Marco, in Formula 1, there's a lot of talk, a lot of hope.
Nasser HameedCORRESPONDENT
52:33
Would you recommend for him or any young aspiring American driver to do a season of two in GP2 or Formula 3 before getting into the piranha pool that is Formula 1?
Mario AndrettiSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
52:44
Well, you know, I think...
Nasser HameedCORRESPONDENT
13:18
I don't know if Red Bull will release him.
Nasser HameedCORRESPONDENT
13:19
But anyway, move on to GP3, baby sister of GP2.
Nasser HameedCORRESPONDENT
13:23
Race one was Rural Britannia.
Nasser HameedCORRESPONDENT
13:26
Podium was occupied by drivers on Her Majesty's service.
Nasser HameedCORRESPONDENT
15:02
Both of them need a lot of new motivation to move up in the ranks.
Nasser HameedCORRESPONDENT
15:07
And I'm very surprised that Haas did not take Alexander Rossi under their wing.
Nasser HameedCORRESPONDENT
15:12
He was second in GP2 last year and is the only American to win in GP2.
Nasser HameedCORRESPONDENT
15:17
What you make of Rossi being, uh, overlooked by Haas?
Harry BenjaminHOST
33:01
Well, m- maybe not the exact same temperatures as what we'd expect for Sunday's race, though.
Jolyon PalmerPANELIST
33:05
I did my GP2 feature races in, I did two in Singapore, and they were in the middle of the afternoon heat.
Jolyon PalmerPANELIST
33:12
And let me tell you, it was a sweaty affair.
Jolyon PalmerPANELIST
33:13
See, they're an hour race still, so they're obviously not as quick a car, but twice the length of a, of a sprint race.

17 MINS LATER

Harry BenjaminHOST
50:02
So Kimi Antonelli then, after that, what we think we can pretty confidently say was just a blip in Baku, bouncing back in, uh, in Sepang.
Harry BenjaminHOST
50:08
But he has got that, uh, Max Verstappen now, who could well challenge going forward for that top step of the podium.
Harry BenjaminHOST
50:14
But I mean, Joly, when you, when you won, was it Formula 2, or was it G- was it called GP2 then?
Jolyon PalmerPANELIST
50:18
GP2.
Nasser HameedCORRESPONDENT
32:36
And we move on to some championships at this stage of the season.
Nasser HameedCORRESPONDENT
32:38
We'll start with Hafez Oz, our favorite GP2.
Nasser HameedCORRESPONDENT
32:41
Unlike last year when Stoffel Vandon was the runaway champion, this season we have five drivers separated by 14 points.
Nasser HameedCORRESPONDENT
32:49
Leading the pack with 113 points each are Russian Sergei Srotkin and Frenchman Pierre Gasly.
Nasser HameedCORRESPONDENT
32:55
Sirotkin is the kid whose Pepito signed a deal to invest a few billion rubles in sour a few years ago, but I guess his cash-laden ferry became the Edmund Fitzgerald of Lake Geneva.
Nasser HameedCORRESPONDENT
33:06
Pierre Gasly is a 20-year-old Francais who could be the next mini-professor.
Nasser HameedCORRESPONDENT
33:11
This is his second GP2 season courtesy of Red Bull.
Nasser HameedCORRESPONDENT
33:14
If he wins the championship, then I am sure the guillotine will fall on Daniel Kvyat.
Sean KennedyHOST
46:33
I'm going to give you one more and it's not F1.
Sean KennedyHOST
46:36
The 2006 GP2 race in Turkey.
Sean KennedyHOST
46:39
Yeah.
Sean KennedyHOST
46:39
Okay.
JamesPANELIST
46:58
Probably YouTube.
JamesPANELIST
46:58
You have plenty of highlights on YouTube, I imagine.
Sean KennedyHOST
47:00
Yeah, but try to find the 2006 GP2 race in Turkey.
Sean KennedyHOST
47:04
It was brilliant, by the way.
Michael LamonatoHOST
33:21
But he said, you know, I asked him how he was going.
Michael LamonatoHOST
33:24
He said, you know, I was a GP3 champion, a Formula 3 champion, a GP2 champion.
Michael LamonatoHOST
33:29
I was leading in the DTM when I was there.
Michael LamonatoHOST
33:31
None of these championships are relevant anymore.
