Gospel Four

To 1963, and Judy Jarques moved further into the realm of a gospel singer, perhaps Australia's first authentic gospel singer, and unusual because gospel singing was normally associated with colored singers.

Judy left the Yarra Yarra New Orleans Jazz Band and formed her own group known as the Gospel Four.

They released an EP simply titled Judy Jarques and Her Gospel Four on the very small Segue label.

The first track, Didn't It Rain Children.

Didn't it rain, children, talk about rain, my Lord.

There's even a note suggesting that Judy's hairstyle became quite fashionable around Melbourne at the time.

Unique for a gospel singer.

Another EP followed in 1964, again with her gospel four.
