I'm sure letting the family know well before letting the public know so that no one was finding out through social media or online.

However, this week, yesterday, Monday the 21st, he was tentatively identified by park officials at Baxter State Park as 64-year-old Bert Peter Goris from Colton, California.

And he was a registered through hiker on the Appalachian Trail.

He had spent the night at the Birches.

So at least what I've read has really called out the team on that Blackhawk for having a really difficult landing and still being able to do it.

And the Baxter State Park Rangers hiked up the mountain.

They did reach Goris on the Hunt Trail.

They assisted him to the helicopter and he was airlifted out, but he was still pronounced deceased.

Apparently, his 911 came in.

and they uh two hikers had actually called 9-1-1 to get uh this guy off of the mountain apparently he had an ankle injury or leg injury and they could the person could not move well or talk well so peter yeah bert peter goris could not move or talk well so the first person that stopped gave him his tent and his sleeping bag and continued on their way because conditions were getting worse and worse on the mountain and if if you uh i'll talk chat about this later if you can't save yourself then or if you can't save the person and yourself then it becomes a problem so and then i actually later on another person came in found uh uh bert as the same condition but a little bit worse gave them gave bert a sleeping bag as well and then continued on their way because it started to rain and they had some a little bit of frost going on so once again this these two people that saw this uh continued on because they knew that they would become part of either a rescue or a possible fatality uh when gorse was So Goris was a registered Appalachian Thru hiker, and he stayed at the Birch Campground on September 13th and signed into the hunt register around 7.40 a.m. as a solo hiker.

The witnesses said he reached the summit on September 14th and was descending.

Goris stopped at the hunt trail during his descent and asked hikers for direction to the Apple Trail.

Goris was wearing wet shorts and a long-sleeved shirt at the time, and hiker told Goris to put on more clothing due to conditions.

The hiker had to leave because of weather conditions.

The first emergency calls came shortly after that interaction.

So almost...

Yeah.

One of Goris' better solos.

I kind of forgot this one.

This is Goris having his sort of thin line moment.

getting the solos with this is a bit of this is very rare for them oh yeah

on that cosmo canyon because
