Gorilla Tape

And so I, in my old studio, I had the wall space to photograph it on one wall if I wanted to, but I decided, okay, this would be really, this would be easier to put one piece up on the wall, photograph it and put the second piece up and then put it together and Photoshop is the triptych.

And so I put piece up with Gorilla Tape.

because it's not stretched and it's on a cement wall.

And so I was trying to find something.

So I had gorilla tape along the back, pushed it up while I was on a table and then put the edges up.

And I've got this piece up in the wall.

Perfect.

yeah it's not and it's moving quick and um i made a post on linkedin just a couple days ago because i have been challenging um my ai systems and i did this in open ai i did this in google's gemini and i did this in anthropics claude where this year for halloween and i hope this episode comes out before halloween but we'll see if this is a topical or not topical thing um for halloween my son really wants to be a jawa from star wars so you know the little dudes with the brown capes and the dark faces and the sand people yes they're not sand people they're they're different but they like they're in the sand crawler right which gets me the point here where uh we have like a uh like a high end high speed low drag low friction wagon that we used to go around the neighborhood because we have a um like a lake that's not far and the library's walking distance and so we used to do a lot of wagoning in our household when my son was younger and so it's kind of been in the garage for a while but i thought if my son wants via java we got to turn the wagon into a sand crawler, right? So we've been stockpiling cardboard and I got a bunch of, you know, Gorilla Tape, duct tape, spray paint, all that.

And I'm like, I know that if I sat down with an X-Acto knife and some tape, I could figure out how to turn this thing into a sand crawler.

But what if I shortcut that? Because I don't...

So I go with the name brand Sharpie on that one.

And what I have started doing is actually using Gorilla Glue tape or the Gorilla Tape, the same one that I use for my pull buoy.

I rip a strip off of that and I stick it on my paddle and then I can write on there.

And then that way it's really just peeling off a piece of tape.

Listen, well, if it was regular duct tape, if it was the gorilla tape, I think it's bad news.

Let me just say that.

And she should not get in the way.

And it was a reasonable duct tape.

It wasn't the gorilla tape.

No, it wasn't.

Oh, that's right.

And then, and then, uh, and then, you know, we left it up to, uh, you know, Griff and Lou and Rosan to fix it, and they went and got some Gorilla Tape that doesn't stick to the wall, and then never tried anything else after that.

It worked for a minute and then-

It never worked.

And so in, in the name of, like, purging all of my stuff and, and decluttering, and I thought I was doing something really, really, um, healthy.

I, I got rid of a lot of stuff, those pants included, even though they had holes or Gorilla Tape patches in both legs and- And I was like, "I'm gonna get rid of a bunch of stuff." And I f- I was proud of myself, and I went back to the Goodwill I had given them to like a month later, and they were on the rack, and I thought-

Stop

... "Oh, I gave them a sec- I gave them a second chance at, at, at life," you know? And then I went back to that same Goodwill 14 months later, and they were still there.

People have been going crazy on the planes recently, man.

Yeah, and apparently, you know, uh, Gorilla Tape or duct tape, it, it all works to keep these people in place, and I saw a photo of it.

They had him duct-taped, and he was sitting in first class too.

Oh, okay.
