Resendevez murdered 26-year-old schoolteacher Naomi Dominguez and then 73-year-old Josephine Convica in Texas.

Then he struck hundreds of miles north in Gorham, Illinois, killing 79-year-old George Morbert and his 51-year-old daughter Carolyn Frederick.

On June 21, 1999, Resendez was placed on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list under the alias Rafael Resendez Ramirez.

One day, one borrowed vehicle connecting both scenes.

Ten days later, on June 15, in Gorham, Illinois, Resendiz entered a mobile home.

George Morbin was 80 years old.

Carolyn Frederick was 52.

He shot Morbin.

He used the shotgun as a bludgeoning weapon against Frederick.

ProRed pickup truck was seen the following day approximately 60 miles south of Gorham, driven by a man described as Latino and heading in the direction of the Texas border.

The pattern was now undeniable.
