Um, I think if you are like a metal fan, which I don't really think the guy from Amir is, I think he's pretty much on the record for that.

Like, I think I saw a post like a couple of days ago where he was like, Gorg, uh, tried listening to Gorguts cause I saw people talking it up.

It was dog shit.

And it's like, okay, all right.

I mean, there was a few things.

Gorguts.

I mean, they were Canadian.

But but, you know, I mean, it was there, but it was more an anomaly than like.

I'm your host, Greg Canelty, and this week I've got Colin Marston from Kralis and Gorguts and like a million other bands as my guest.

We cover quite a bit of ground in this interview.

We talk about everything from him moving his legendary studio Metagroth from New York to Pennsylvania, the new Kralis record and how it was commissioned by Roadburn, why some of kralis's music was actually written not to be played live and then they started playing it live and realizing that it was really really hard to play but damn it they did it anyway and of course the new gore guts record which spoiler alert it sounds like it's going to be really really cool all right i'm gonna go ahead and shut up now and we're gonna get

no no no perfect uh no i was gonna say too uh because it seems like you know you you really did like a lot of the synth stuff so going back to this form of kraus is this kind of like more of a long-term plan or is this just kind of we're doing this for roadburn we're doing this with this lineup and then you know after that doors wide open whatever you want to do

um so yeah coming back to the old instruments was definitely like so that we could play shows more easily um we do have some material left over to be done potentially with the lineup with me on since and mcmaster on guitar uh so there's a bunch of stuff to work on for that i we also have some new stuff that we've written with mick and i on guitar again we might kind of put all that on ice for a bit and just chill after this tour um we'll see um but yeah as is usually the case with Kralis, the opposite of all my other bands, there's always stuff on the back burner to, to, to, to work on when there's, when there's time.

Um, you know, some of that's because we have three people writing for the band and, uh, I guess that's true in Gorguts, but Luke is pretty much the main writer, and Kevin and I usually just get one song per record, so that's true of the new one as well.

I had written new music for Gorguts in the big span in between Colored Sands and and the new stuff.

But...

Gorguts.

You know, the outside of that castle is actually the cover of Jester Race.

The coffin from Considered Dead is in the castle.

Damn.

The Gorguts lore keeps growing.

And then, yeah, Erosion of Sant...

And then there's whatever comes out.

There's this one real bad mistake I made on the new Gorguts record where like I just played a whole chord on the wrong string.

And we listened back to it and I was like, well, that's a bad mistake.

I don't hate the way it sounds.

We did our first full month tour ever last summer.

That was the first time we'd been out for that long together.

I've done plenty of those tours with Dysrhythmia and Beholding Gorguts, but first time for Kralos.

Hell yeah.
