Neal LandryHOST

Yeah.
Ryan StormHOST
2:10
Well, Goose is back.
Ryan StormHOST
2:11
You're back.
Ryan StormHOST
2:12
You know, we had a lot of... criticisms uh at the end of summer tour i think and a lot of pain points uh with with a lot of the shows and at least for me big picture you know watching last night and listening back today it feels as though there there was an effort in last night's show and an energy in last night's show that i don't think we saw very much of in august

9 MINS LATER

Neal LandryHOST
11:16
Because it just feels, like, well-crafted.
Neal LandryHOST
11:19
If this was kind of just thrown together, I would be shocked.
Neal LandryHOST
11:22
Although, you know, it is Goose, after all.
Neal LandryHOST
11:26
Generally, they don't follow the set list.
Neal LandryHOST
1:30
Yep, that is actually one of the things that we're going to cover today.
Neal LandryHOST
1:32
But more than anything, I think we're going to cover a really, really exciting time in Goose's history.
Neal LandryHOST
1:37
I think there were lots of, it was all kind of happening at this point.
Neal LandryHOST
1:41
You know, there was a sense of wonder from the band.
Ryan StormHOST
2:48
Anyway, so we talked about in May how some of the ideas that started to kind of germinate in fall 2020 were starting to come to fruition, and there was the introduction of that Ted Tapes jamming style.
Ryan StormHOST
2:58
And so this June tour is like the next step in that evolution.
Ryan StormHOST
3:02
So an important thing, at least, that we want to illustrate here is the period from, I think – fall 2019 through march 2022 every tour was like stepping forward stepping forward expanding the palette in terms of improv like what can we do differently how can we build on what we did in the in the previous tour so what we see over this run in june which was also to note their last socially distanced tour so all these shows were still drive-ins and pods um is just those ideas from May coming to fruition and the introduction of new, very pivotal moments for Goose.
Neal LandryHOST
3:45
Yeah, so setting the stage a little bit, what they're thinking about when they're looking out at this crowd They have arenas on the horizon.
Chad WhiteHOST
36:01
It's very true.
Chad WhiteHOST
36:02
I think also because Goose exists, Geese just kind of came out of nowhere if you weren't paying attention.
Chad WhiteHOST
36:11
I do remember only listening to Geese because I would see their songs on SiriusXM.
Chad WhiteHOST
36:20
Again, oddly enough, Sirius XM is really good for music discovery.
Steven HydenHOST
58:16
Some of the biggest names in jam band music right now.
Steven HydenHOST
58:19
You have Rick from Goose.
Steven HydenHOST
58:21
You have Taylor and Griffin Goldsmith of Dawes.
Steven HydenHOST
58:24
Plus you have people from bands like Soul Live, Phil and Friends, and Circles Around the Sun.
Steven HydenHOST
58:35
They never seem to add up to the sum of the parts.
Steven HydenHOST
58:38
But I feel like this group actually does deliver on what you would want from these musicians if you are fans of these musicians.
Steven HydenHOST
58:46
Goose in particular is a band that I think...
Steven HydenHOST
58:49
It has really functioned well in the studio, contrary to what jam bands normally do.
Rachel IacovoneHOST
11:56
Then the next day at Bridgestone, the parents of the Jonas Brothers fans can support Dave Matthews Band.
Marie Cecile AndersonHOST
12:04
Also, November 6th, Jodi Messina is at The Truth and the venue hosts Goose.
Marie Cecile AndersonHOST
12:10
Is that different than geese? I don't know, guys.
Marie Cecile AndersonHOST
12:14
You said it like a question.
Marie Cecile AndersonHOST
12:15
I thought you knew more.
Marie Cecile AndersonHOST
12:16
I know nothing.
Marie Cecile AndersonHOST
12:17
All my friends have been yapping on about Goose.
Marie Cecile AndersonHOST
12:20
So are they going? Check them out November 10th and 11th.
Lucas AllenHOST
36:40
Yeah.
Lucas AllenHOST
36:40
Which is the super group featuring members of Dawes and Goose and a couple other people.
Lucas AllenHOST
36:46
And how it is fine, basically.
Lucas AllenHOST
36:49
Yeah.
Ben CahnHOST
7:27
Having their own experiences?
Emil DeRosaHOST
7:29
I always think about it with like, The band Geese, for example.
Emil DeRosaHOST
7:35
Yeah.
Emil DeRosaHOST
7:35
Everyone in my world, my little world, is like, Geese, man.
Emil DeRosaHOST
7:42
Right? And when you look at their monthly listeners...
Emil DeRosaHOST
7:45
You're like, that's a lot of monthly listeners, I guess.
Theo VonHOST
100:38
up.
Theo VonHOST
100:38
Dude, Goose is one of my favorite bands in the world.
Theo VonHOST
100:41
You gotta listen to them.
Theo VonHOST
100:41
No, my best friend Scott loves them, but I haven't listened to them
Marc BrownsteinGUEST
5:37
And all of the jam bands do it at this point.
Marc BrownsteinGUEST
5:40
You know, I got to imagine that there's thousands and thousands of goose fans out there who go to the show and hear cotter playing four on the floor at you know for the second half of the second set they call it goons you know it's uns in our scene but over there they call it goons um and i've just got to imagine that 95 of the people that are there who are who are you know a lot of them are younger kids and a lot of them are kind of gen x you know dudes who weren't into the jam band scene.
Marc BrownsteinGUEST
6:13
They're kind of more into Dave Matthews, which is a huge influence for Goose.
Marc BrownsteinGUEST
6:18
And here they are playing this kind of style that we invented, which is four on the floor, house beats with shredding guitar over the top of it and kind of looping synths and stuff.
Marc BrownsteinGUEST
6:32
and they're out there doing it at msg and you know spac and and all these massive venues and so i gotta assume that there's just thousands and thousands of people out there who are hearing this style of music that we invented and not aware of where not connecting it yeah right but but um you know it's like that's that's our legacy and you know i think part of being a part of that being our legacy is you know us still being here and still spreading that you know it's like we're my one of my goals um over the next bunch of years is that all of those people do find out.
Jason ReposaHOST
7:13
They do connect it eventually.
Jason ReposaHOST
7:14
Where Goose got that from.
Jason ReposaHOST
7:16
And it's happening.
ChloeHOST
24:09
And I've never seen it that sparse in the crowd for a Sunday primetime show.
ChloeHOST
24:16
And then we walked over, we left like a little more than halfway through Goose or Geese and walked past Big Grammatic and the amp was busting at the seams.
ChloeHOST
24:26
Like they should have done the stage swap, I feel.
ClintHOST
24:29
I feel like the EDM shows do well at the Amph, though.
