it loses steam it starts hot loses steam like it kind of goes idle because you know i don't know how much people know about the the stunt but it it just never really went off with the driver and so it like let me pop all the names here and like who all the characters are but yeah so Jay Baruchel's in it.
Mark HoffmeyerHOST
50:20
It's directed by Michael Dowse, who also did Goon.
Mark HoffmeyerHOST
50:22
Goon's one of my favorite movies.
Mark HoffmeyerHOST
50:23
I think it's incredible.
Mark HoffmeyerHOST
50:24
And Baruchel's playing, what, Ken, the mad Canadian carter, a legendary cross-eyed Canadian stuntman.
Courtney SmallGUEST
52:00
Yeah, it's one that I know a lot of people wanted to see, but then I didn't hear, like, after the screenings, like, the kind of buzz I was expecting to hear from it.
Courtney SmallGUEST
52:11
So that makes sense.
Mark HoffmeyerHOST
52:12

Appropriated.

Sean JordanGUEST
9:38
Goon, Sean William Scott.
Tom PowerHOST
2:07
Anyway, the film was written and produced and directed by the Canadian director Michael Dowse, one of our finest filmmakers.
Tom PowerHOST
2:13
He's made movies like Goon, It's All Gone, Pete Tong, The F Word, and Fubar, a big Canadian cult movie.
Tom PowerHOST
2:20
So The Stunt Driver made its world premiere at this year's Toronto International Film Festival.
Tom PowerHOST
2:24
Michael Dowse calls this film his white whale.
Christy LemirePANELIST
23:27
Uh, Jay Baruchel's from Montreal.
Christy LemirePANELIST
23:30
Uh, Michael Dowse, who directed this, also directed Baruchel in Goon, which is a really great hockey movie.
Christy LemirePANELIST
23:35
There aren't a lot of great hockey movies, and that's also extremely Canadian.
Christy LemirePANELIST
23:39
So there's a lot of affection for the '70s and Canada, and just what a larger-than-life figure this guy was, and just, like, the clothes and the hair.
JoshHOST
3:49
Well, Regardless, that's also coming out.
WillisHOST
3:51
Who directed Goon, for those of you who might remember.
WillisHOST
3:54
That's, you know.
WillisHOST
3:55
Oh, yeah.
Daniel BaptistaHOST
4:34
[laughs] I wore it for you.
Daniel BaptistaHOST
4:36
Um, and yeah, Michael Dowse, you know, he's made some awesome films over the years, A Goon being one of my all-time favorites.
Daniel BaptistaHOST
4:41
It's just, uh...
Daniel BaptistaHOST
4:42
Yeah, and it's hockey season starting up.
Shahbaz SiddiquiHOST

Jay BaruchelGUEST
9:08

Shahbaz SiddiquiHOST
9:09
Uh, Michael and Jay, obviously you guys worked together on Goon, which was one of my fucking favorite movies ever.
Jay BaruchelGUEST
9:15
Thank you.
April EtmanskiHOST
4:46
So kind of like funny things kind of ensue from that.
April EtmanskiHOST
4:50
But there's still like a lot of like serious moments of like shootouts.
April EtmanskiHOST
4:54
And there's some fun fight scenes, but there's some martial arts in this.
April EtmanskiHOST
4:58
But it is a little bit more of like a kind of a pow pow movie than that.
April EtmanskiHOST
5:30
And the police are also horribly inept in the movie as well, which made it also very funny.
April EtmanskiHOST
5:37
I was laughing consistently, but it is kind of like a thriller, dark comedy.
April EtmanskiHOST
5:45
visually i thought it looked stunning lots of beautiful rich colors the score was also great uh like towards the beginning i was almost reminded of like stravinsky um this kind of like beautiful classical score and like you know you can you you do like feel bad for like this main character uh because like he doesn't really know what's going on but he's trying to kind of do his best and I got the impression that he suffered from a brain trauma for injury, and that's why he has this memory loss, because he seemed to kind of be haunted by this previous case.
April EtmanskiHOST
6:21
I would absolutely recommend this movie.
