If that person sends you a picture, screenshot it, take it to Google, and it will show up, and it will give you every red flag of who you're speaking to.

and i had so much fun uh me and my friend juliana who used to work at the bookstore went and we there's a strip of like i would say 30 thrift stores between where i live and like uh about an hour north of me like there's just a corridor of thrift stores oh um so we were gonna go to a bunch we ended up only going two places because we spent so much time yeah so the first place was really cool and it was just like a typical kind of thrift store but they have like everything was really nicely organized and like nicely selected like it wasn't just like a goodwill where people just like basically give their junk to goodwill and they just like throw it on a shelf yeah like it was like organized by type and like all the puzzles were together all the fabrics were it was just nice um so i found their um a little trinket like i got a little monterey california mug because it had a little otter on it and i got this little i love otters i got this little um apparently it's a toothpick cup i didn't know what it was what Until we did, like, Google Lens and we, like, figured out, like, based on other listings, like, what brand and what it was.

sorry and no I mean it's such a hard thing to talk about because AI is so like almost weaponized right now where if you're for it you're against it or whatever and I think there's I think there's a lot of nuances in there that you can enjoy some aspects of it you know a lot of this is just machine learning that we've all accepted and fine been fine with but now There's so much other baggage attached to it that it makes it harder to talk about.
J
49:32Julian ChokkattuGUEST
But like, you know, there are things like, for example, one feature that I think so many people use that maybe a lot of people don't even realize it's AI is like things like visual intelligence or like Google Lens.
J
49:43Julian ChokkattuGUEST
You know, that's everyone like my parents use it.
J

7 Signs Your Vintage Jewelry Isn’t Vintage - Episode #171
D
23:42DesireeHOST
And the actual necklace change was vintage Avon.
D
23:47DesireeHOST
but i wasn't quite sure about the pendant the pendant was beautiful and i'm probably going to throw up some pictures here the pendant was beautiful but it did look newer to me but the seller claimed that the necklace and the pendant were both vintage now the the necklace was vintage avon because it was marked as such and i could tell by looking at it that that's actually what it was but the pendant was something that you know made me question but because the price was right i was willing to take a chance and of course when i did receive the necklace i could clearly see that the pendant was not vintage even though she said it was you know maybe she didn't know maybe she thought it was maybe someone told her that the pendant was also vintage but with trusty Google lens I was able to find the exact same pendant and it was actually being sold as a hairpin it's the same exact design but the stone colors are a little bit different so again you want to do your due diligence and use the tools that you have accessible to you to make sure you're actually getting what you are paying for right so You don't want to look for something, because here's the thing, I know there are modern pieces made to look like they're vintage, and that's fine as long as you're selling them as such, or the seller is selling them, saying these are not vintage pieces, they're made to look vintage.
D

But you just have to be very careful.
D
25:34DesireeHOST
And I know doing research sometimes is a pain.
D
25:50DesireeHOST
And I'm not saying that's what you have to do all the time with every piece.
D
25:55DesireeHOST
But if you have something that you think could be worth a decent amount, then you may want to spend the time to research it, okay, and use the tools that you have available.
D

Of course, Google Lens, you all know that I have Jewelry Bestie, or you can join my group, Jewelry Jumpstart, and you can post a picture in there and we will all chime in and help you figure it out.
D
26:16DesireeHOST
But for the most part nowadays there's just there's too much information out there between google youtube um ai tools um facebook groups like i mentioned there's my group there's There's so many ways to get information about jewelry nowadays that, you know, you should not get scammed or ripped off or anything like that.
