Good News Club

Um, I actually also got help from my school.

There's a thing called the Good News Club.

Oh, yeah.

My wife and I both participated in it.

Yeah.

So that's actually how I learned how to pray, was the Good News Club.

Hmm.

Wow, that was great that you were able to go to that.

And he says, Sally, what about all these other third graders? What about them? Are you praying for them? So we took the yearbook and we began to pray for each child, putting their name in scripture.

And before we knew it, God brings on to our public school campus a good news club.

Over 100 kids would come.

And many of them, I came and volunteered, many of them received Jesus.

And so I just am so grateful for your prayers for our ministry.

Well, you're in a mighty answer to prayer.

So we always pray that the kids will hear the Good News Club.

And I got to be with you in Oceanside, California.

They're religious institutions.

My church, First Presbyterian, runs the Good News Club at Lowell Elementary School.

After all of these years, I mean, the number of different directors of the Good News Club at Lowell have changed over the years.

But because it's a value of the church, they're still there after decades.

That's kind of a remarkable thing when you think about that.

Yeah, the Good News International Ministries.

Dude, wasn't the Good News Club like a thing at like after school program?

That's the after school special.

Oh,

God.

But it's like we're, we're constantly having to like kind of decipher what my kids can attend 'cause I-- there, there was something called Good News Club at their elementary school.

Oh, they snuck it in.

And I was like-

It is frustrating.

[laughs] God.

The Good News Club.

The Good News Club.

So I grew up in a Christian home.

So I was in church every Sunday and Good News Club every Friday and Bible camps every summer.

So I spent a lot of my time being taught the Bible, singing Bible songs, learning memory verses and hearing Bible stories and doing Bible quizzes.

So if you grew up in church, you know exactly what I'm talking about.

And about 80% of the time, you'd be right.

And it didn't work for every question.

But as we're wrapping up this One Thing series, we can be sure that for the biggest questions of life, that old Sunday school and Good News Club answer is spot on.

The answer is still Jesus.

And again, I- I'm not sure what- how my three-year-old mind could really comprehend sin and, you know, just all of that.

But I knew the invitation was, "Come, come to me." And I said, "Yes, Jesus, I love you, and I, I wanna be in your family." And so my mom was amazing, and she, um, led, in our home, a, a, through Child Evangelism Fellowship, a Good News Club.

Mm.

So every week she invited in the elementary school kids.

They came across from Russia.

We started up Good News Clubs.

Three Good News Clubs in Lakselv, and, and this is the Lakselv one.

We had many children in that there a couple of years ago.

We had about 50 children coming every Tuesday, and they'd come straight from school.
