Golfsmith

That came out in '92.

I was working early, uh, 1993 at Golfsmith, and the owners at Golfsmith were members at Austin Country Club.

Uh, knew Harvey Penick really well.

Knew his son, Tinsley, who was the cur- who was the current head pro at that time.

And, uh, he would talk for a little bit, talk for about 15, 20 minutes, and then open it up to questions, and questions could go on for an hour or more, you know, just asking him things about, uh, what he thought about anything golf related.

Yeah.

Uh, so that's where it all started, and it went on for, went at Golfsmith for 16 years at Golfsmith-

Wow

And really, equipment was a big, big part of it.

I was obsessed with those Edwin Watts magazines and Golfsmith magazines and just, you know, how could, you know, you get your gear to help you because I was in a rush to get better.

All the other boys my age what were really good, three, four handicaps.

And I was literally, I could hit it, but I was, you know, I was starting off at whatever I was, 24 handicap was probably my first one.

This season, we're going to be talking with guests who have broken the mold and moved the mark.
