Godzilla Minus One

It was like a minor character.

And sure enough, she is going to be in it along with Don Lee and Manami Hamabe, who was in Godzilla minus one.

So nice.

Yeah.

Now, this movie comes out in March 29th, 2024, and Godzilla Minus One was released four months earlier.

Yeah.

And we're going to talk about that movie later because we want it to be close to when we do our Godzilla minus zero episode, which we hope to do a week after it comes out.

movie came out like a month before we conceived of this podcast, actually.

Yes.

And I will say critics, a lot of the reviews I've seen of the new Empire were like, this isn't Godzilla minus one.

And it's like, it's not, but it's not trying to be.

But unfortunately, it's something that we started at the beginning of the year.

But we are getting very close to starting a new one, considering we are now midway through September.

Goddamn.

So, yeah.

Yeah.

Oh, this is the same guy who was responsible for the American release of Godzilla.

Oh, no. That's very funny.

Yeah.

so It's strange because I guess this is the biggest budgeted South Korean film ever.

Yes.

But it's still not nearly as big as a Hollywood blockbuster would be, although it wouldn't necessarily need to be, because with Godzilla Minus One, the director of that has a background in visual effects, so he was able to make it look good.

But it's also just the question of how much of this is deliberate, right? Because there's budget in terms of just the detail and the rendering.

i highly recommend this movie if you like if you like action movies if you like creature features i know a lot of people do not like if they don't have time for creature features i think you're you're crazy i do want to say this though the While the spectacle of the CGI is engrossing and it pleased, it satisfied me, I can see people having a hard time with the look of it because it's not the greatest effects you've ever seen.

It's a step down from it's sort of like Godzilla minus one where they are doing a ton with a small budget.

I think Godzilla minus one looks better.

I think they did more with less.

But I do think it's in that same vein of you have to forgive it a little bit because of what it is able to do with the money they were given.

Godzilla, let's see, Godzilla minus one budget.

Yeah, incredible.

I mean, the most recent Godzilla that came out of Japan, what was it called? Force Zero, Beyond Zero, whatever it was.

Absolutely fantastic.

Like, what a film.

And finally, Godzilla Minus Zero, the sequel to Godzilla Minus One, has been filmed.

It's in IMAX, too.

So it's going to be a big deal when it comes out.
