in order for it to be sellable, you know? And Mina being in that group is a lot of what made that, like, something that was acceptable in the West, which I think is actually something that Lisa from Blackpink-pink struggled with.

They're sloppy.

So this kind of strand of their recent releases really began with one of their singles last year called Gnarly.

This is a song that I feel like even you have heard, Jack.

I mean, Gnarly was.

I think it's like they have like a child audience who love gross out.

She's

really good at it.

And Pinky Up was pretty much engineered for the Euro club scene and like even sampled a song that like made it pretty much surefire to do well in that space.

And like they do have an identity problem and Gnarly is like the weirdest shit ever, but the weirdness is part of the experiment and they're dancing to Gnarly is what made the song come to life.

And I just think they're, It's like for all the ways they are kind of like I could understand the song seeming like slop.

I also think they're doing something different with like combining the choreo and the song to make the full experience.

I feel like Gnarly is like-

... are also sort of notorious for, like, overt product placement.

You know, um, like a Boba tea mention matching the lyrics to Gnarly or, like, significantly more baffling, a TikTok and a Slime promo placement on that song, which is called Hootie Fruity, which I played a little snippet of earlier.

But, like, I mean, they had the song Gnarly that was quite a big hit.

I think it's their biggest hit so far.

You can sort of sense that this has been the strategy from the beginning.

Gnarly definitely was a game changer for them.

For the worst, unfortunately.

But it's always been that.

But I think the label got the wrong message from it.

I think they could have gone quirky with their music 100%.

Because Gnarly is technically very camp.

But instead of going camp, they took the fact that they used shitty-ass lyrics and Rage Beatty lyrics to be their future stamp, basically, of what Cat's Eye is.
