Gloria Reuben

Back in January of 1996, when I was writing for a little magazine called TV Guide Canada, I did a cover story on a young Canadian actress then making a name for herself on North America's number one series, ER.

Her name is Gloria Reuben, born in Toronto and raised in London, Ontario.

When I reached her then by phone in Los Angeles, she had to interrupt the call to go to the door and accept a bottle of champagne sent from then NBC West Coast President Don Ohlmeyer.

Ol' cufflinks and cocktails Ohlmeyer, as David Letterman used to call him.

A lot has happened on the home front, enough to fill a memoir, and we talk about how astonishing it is that her character on the series seems so her in real life, almost as if the character was written for her, which it wasn't.

It was great catching up, but the crazy thing is it felt like we had kept in touch the whole time.

Please welcome the very present Gloria Reuben.

Listen, it's a real pleasure to see you and talk to you, and I don't know if you'll remember, but I talked to you for this, for this, uh, cover story of TV Guide Canada.
