Gladiators

I feel like my next guest can relate maybe just a little bit to this story.

Back in 2008, Ed Cavalli loved watching Gladiators.

Specifically, he loved watching Gladiator Angel.

In fact, he was so smitten with her that he asked if he could interview her on his breakfast radio show.

I was living, I'd moved to Melbourne to do Thank God You're Here straight out of university.

And I was on radio with Tony Martin on Get This on Triple M.

And my very, very good friend, Christian Clark, Australia's most handsome man, he and I, he was at my share house in St Kilda and Gladiators had just started on Channel 7 back in the day.

And we turned on and Tiff was in her outfit as Angel.

[laughs] No, it wasn't that.

It was Gladiators, Troy.

Ah, of course, yes.

He was, uh, he was Hammer on the Australian version of-

Ah, of course.

So he was a bit of a good-looking fellow and, um, obviously got into some, the T- some TV work post-career.

Who was he on Gladiators? Falcon?

Hammer.

Um, I, I just wanted to say, did you know that CNN brought a UK show, um, your, your, y- the show I Got News For You, brought that British show to America? Yeah, they brought it.

They also-- American Gladiators was, was before Gladiators.

American Gladiators was 1998, uh, 1989.

1990 something was American Gladiators.

Uh, uh, UK Gladiators actually.

The reason I know that is because I've been watching, uh, documentaries about gla- the show Gladiators.

[chuckles] You know, there's also an Australian Gladiators, German Gladiators, and all that.
