Gittite

Uh, remember David puts it on a t- on a, on a, on a, on a, um, a cart, and the oxen stumbles, and somebody puts their hands out, and of course they drop dead, and everybody goes, "Ah!" And they leave the Ark of the Covenant where it is, and that's in the house of Obed-Edom.

He is a Gittite who is a Philistine who David was fighting some 20 years before.

But he recognizes the value of what, o- of what he has.

And actually, if you read the story through to 2 Samuel chapter 6, you discover that he becomes incorporated into Israel as a Levite.

Um, and, and he, he recognizes in verses, uh, one and two that, that, uh, that, that God dwells in a tent, in a tent.

The ark, he's brought the ark fr- uh, up from Obed-Edom, uh, and, and, uh, the, the, the house of Obed-Edom, the, the Gittites, and, uh, and it's now in Jerusalem.

And he says, "Wait, the ark is still dwelling in a tent, but I have a house of cedar."

Mm-hmm.

And David, afraid of the Lord that day, he said, How can the ark of the Lord come to me? Why don't you all read that with me? How can the ark of the Lord come to me? So David was not willing to take the ark of the Lord into the city of David.

But David took it aside to the house of Obed-Edom, the Gittite.

And the ark of the Lord remained in the house of Obed-Edom, the Gittite, three months.

And the Lord blessed Obed-Edom and all his household.

And it was told, And it was told King David, So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the city of David with rejoicing.

So David would not move the Ark of the Lord with him into the city of David, but David took it aside into the house of Obed-Edom, the Gadite.

The ark of the Lord remained in the house of Obed-Edom, the Gittite, three months.

And the Lord blessed Obed-Edom and all his household.

Now it was told King David saying, the Lord has blessed the house of Obed-Edom.

And David was angry because the Lord had broken out against Uzzah, and that place is called Perez Uzzah to this day.

And David was afraid of the Lord that day, and he said, How can the ark of the Lord come to me? So David was not willing to take the ark of the Lord into the city of David, but David took it aside to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.

And the ark of the Lord remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite three months, and the Lord blessed Obed-Edom and all his household.

And it was told King David, The Lord has blessed the household of Obed-Edom and all that belongs to him because of the ark of God.

So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-Edom to the city of David with rejoicing.

And David was afraid of the Lord that day and said, 'How shall the Ark of the Lord come to me?' And so David would not remove the Ark of the Lord unto him, unto the city of David.

But David carried aside unto the house of Obed-edom the Gittite.

And the Lord ...

Excuse me.

The Ark of the Lord continued in the house of Obed-edom the Gittite three months, and the Lord blessed Obedh- Obed-edom and all his household." Let's pray quickly.

Father, we love you tonight, and we do come in the name of Jesus.

There is no other name given among men whereby we must be saved.

Verse 10 says, So David will not move the ark of the Lord with him into the city of David.

But David took it aside into the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite.

Verse 11.

The ark of the Lord remained in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite three months.

Say three months.

This is a process.

The Lord is teaching me something here.

The Lord wants to take us from glory to glory, strength to strength, victory to victory.

They won't be able to understand how that is happening.

The Ark of the Lord continued in the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite for three months, and the Lord blessed Obed-Edom and all his household.

Look at verse 12.

And it was told David, David now heard that the Lord has blessed the house of Obed-Edom and everything that pertained to him because of what? The Ark of God.
