Girona FC

Yeah, dare to dream.

If you look at the Segunda División and clubs that are in it that were recently, not just in La Liga, but in Europe, obviously Girona are the ones that stand out as being a Champions League team a couple of years ago.

But beyond that, it's Granada.

Played Manchester United in the Europa League, no less, when I think Iqbalo was there, wasn't he? And he was a player that played for both and Both sets of fans were celebrating him.

Obviously, the ownership isn't necessarily funding them to the extent I'm sure that Pachetta would like to.

And I think there will be other clubs in January.

You've mentioned Mallorca, you've mentioned Girona, Real Oviedo maybe.

who will look at their positions and go, right, we need to strengthen the right places.

I came close to saying if I was going to have a team in La Liga.

I did really like Girona.

for a while because they were really fun.

When I was first getting into La Liga about like five years ago, they had that amazing run where they actually made the Champions League and I really enjoyed that team.

Of course, last week was the Copa del Rey midweek, so no Friday night game.

And on Saturday, Girona had David Lopez sent off early on against Real Sociedad B in Zubieta.

But Paulo Gazzaniga was the hero with a double save from the penalty.

They then played Girona 75 minutes with 10 and almost held out until Astyarazan got the winner to break Girona's good run and get the B-side's first point since early September.

Third met second in Iparua with Almeria going ahead early on before a late Pajinho equaliser for Eibar meant that the game ended 1-1.

Celta Fortuna played out an eventful 2-2 draw with Cordoba.

There's like mid-table club games where everyone is buzzing to watch it.

You know, if you were to go and tell me that Levante were playing against Girona or Getafe or something like that, I don't think many...

Faisal

will watch it.

Have you had a team in Spain equivalent to the level of Leicester City win La Liga in the last 15, 20 years? No.

Yes.

Who? Girona.

The action's on the court, and as the official beer sponsor of the NBA, Michelob Ultra is getting fans closer to the game with a chance to win courtside seats, merch, and more.

OK, he's played 13 minutes in La Liga 2 so far this season, that's it.

so he underwent surgery a while back and according to Transfermarkt he's still sort of forced there you go he played against Girona on the 24th so that's last weekend so interesting to see if he gets minutes this weekend coming and played 13 minutes in a 5-1 loss to Girona so he's back fit according to that let's see if he can stay fit I hope he can because really really talented really gifted footballer who looked at one point trying to build his feet but like I say injuries absolutely decimated that and there's this guy in the Bundesliga absolutely cooking called Ibrahim I thought you were going to say Harry Kane then Ibrahim Mahrez an absolute baller I don't know if he goes to a team like PSG or City I'm going to be devastated he has that Mahrez style and cheap okay that is a new one on me I'm not going to lie to you let me have a quick Look, he is currently at Leverkusen.

Okay, right.

I'm keen to check this out a little bit more.

Yeah.

Like, it's kind of giving signs of Girona, what they did a couple years ago.

But even crazier, because Girona still had notable players like Blind, Daily Blind, for example.

Frosinoni didn't even have a Daily Blind.

So I think it's really cool that they're this close to a Champions League spot.

And he'll know 20 as well.

Yeah, and I think that position that Rangers carved out for him at the weekend, obviously dropping Jerry Gisama, allowed him to play on the left-hand side, which is his more natural position when he played last year for, well, when he was playing for Girona when he played last year when he was on loan at FC Andorra.

He wants to be able to come in from that left and drive onto his right foot.

He saw that, he did that repeatedly at the weekend, picking up little pockets of space and obviously with the two big lads up front,

This is the tester, isn't it? They then move to Barcelona.

And they go on loan to Girona.

And now they are on loan at Ajax.

Mönchengladbach, Barcelona, Girona, Ajax.

So they're still contracted at Barcelona.

Been there 12 years.
