Girl Left Alone

We'll feature some more cuts from early in the repertoire of the always amazing and sadly the late and great Dolly Parton.

So there she is on Gold Band for 59 doing Girl Left Alone.

So I found some interesting facts about Dolly, which I thought were kind of cool.

I'll share a few of them here.

She made her historic Grand Ole Opry debut at just 13 years of age in July of 1959, introduced by Johnny Cash, which is a pretty cool thing to have in your diary, I would say.

A very, very neat thing there.

So there's Dolly Parton with Girl Left Alone, the B-side to her debut 45 on Gold Band Records.

We had the Gamma Race coming in out of Rhode Island this year.

Your first record, um, uh, it was a, it was a 45.

One side was Puppy Love and the other side was Girl Left Alone.

How old were you when this came out?

I was about 10 or 11, I think, when I cut that.

Now, these were songs you co-wrote, I think, with your uncle?

Mm-hmm.

My aunt, uh, Dorothy Jo, uh, co-wrote the other side, uh, The Girl Left Alone.

Oh, yeah, that's when you was talking [laughs] earlier about singing those sad songs.
