Girl Gone Bad

There was a bright smile seemingly always plastered on his face, and his light would pop up throughout Van Halen's catalog, like on 1984's Top Jimmy and Drop Dead Legs.

But there was also a dash of darkness in Roth's act, as one should not peruse the stanzas of Girl Gone Bad and House of Pain in a church pew while awaiting Sunday service.

That dichotomy was a key ingredient of the band's formula.

Roth helped supply just enough dusk in Van Halen's sunset to keep the group's formidable intensity intact.

And that really kind of starts with we're talking about First of all, the A-side stuff, of course, you know there's the intro.

But songs like Top Jimmy, Drop Dead Legs, Girl Gone Bad.

And finally, after how many years? I think we talked about it in the Van Halen Zero album, but...

Or episode, but finally, House of Pain, man, is appearing on an album.

Might be my least favorite.

I don't know.

Girl Gone Bad.

They're both kind of whatever.
