Girgashites

"And gavest him the name of Abraham," love that, "and foundest his heart faithful before Thee, and madest a covenant with him to give the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, the Perizzites, and the Jebusites, and the Girgashites.

And give it, I say, to his seed, and hast performed Thy words, for Thou art righteous." Okay, so this I have a, I take a little umbrage, uh, with this.

This is, they're basically saying, like, "God gave us the, the land from these guys."

Um, He wants Joshua to take His people into the land promised to Abraham by divine covenant in Genesis 15.

So in Joshua 3, God lists the nations Joshua and the Israelites are to begin conquering west of the Jordan River: the Canaanites, Hittites, Hivites, Perizzites, Girgashites, Amorites, and the Jebusites.

God then begins to exalt Joshua before the people by drying up the Jordan River so Israel could cross on dry land.

Does that sound familiar? So, uh, because of this miraculous arrival of the Israelites on their shore, Joshua 5:1 says that the states, um, that the hearts of the Amorite and Canaanite kings west of the Jordan melted in fear.

But King Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites.

You know when you hear these names, Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonites, Hittites, Gilgashites.

You know this one has been quarantined.

is a no-go area but scripture says that he loved many strange women together with the daughter of pharaoh women of the moabites ammonites adonites zidonites hittites of the nations concerning which the lord said unto the children of israel ye shall not You shall not go into them, neither shall they come in unto you.

And the leaders of Jericho fought against you.

And also the Amorites, the Parasites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Gergesites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites.

And I gave them into your hand.

And I sent the hornet before you, which drove them out before you, the two kings of the Amorites.

And crossing over the Jordan, they took possession of all the hill country.

And they drove out before them the Canaanites and the Perizzites and the Jebusites and the Shechemites and all the Girgashites and lived there a long time.

As long as they did not sin against their God, they prospered, for the God who hates iniquity is with them.

But when they had departed from the way which he had appointed for them, they were utterly defeated in many battles and were led away captive to a foreign country.

Verses 19 to 21 of this chapter indicate there's 10 pagan nations in it.

The Kenite, the Kenizzite, the Katonite, the Hittite, the Perizzite, the Amorite, the Canaanite, the Girgashite, the Jebusite, the Mosquitobite.

You know, they're all there.

And then Abram asks an honest question in verse eight.
