Liverpool fans have been really frustrated about the wider transfer approach about, not frustrated, maybe that's the wrong word, but slightly confused about this pivot away from seeking value players, you know, more in the Victor Munoz bracket and pivoting into signing these multi-million pound Galactico footballers.

But I think quietly Liverpool have been attacking things from a different position in the market Liverpool no longer going for these sweet spot Ian Graham players but for the stage before that and so far in terms of Jeremy Jacquet and the 71 minutes of football that we've seen from Giovanni Leone it is serving Liverpool well so I can criticise a lot of things that have gone on behind the scenes at Liverpool Football Club in the last 18 months or so.

But I'm really, really positive about this transfer strategy and about this aggressive recruitment of young footballers.

And I think we saw the fruits of that to an extent last night.

Interesting to see just how much they can demand.

Liverpool have done a lot of shopping in Germany in recent times so wouldn't be a huge surprise to see us step up our interest in him Liverpool in terms of centre-backs are pretty well stocked I think it's one area of the squad and the deeper squad that we have been sort of forward thinking and forward planning in we've obviously got Mortalen and Dai and Duquay currently alone at Levante as well Mortalen and Dai for what it's worth scored the win if it was for the ones at the weekend in the last minute which was good yeah so I think centre-back wise I'm not too concerned but the landscape of that could change in an instant essentially if we don't decide to keep Ronald or Rauho around Virgil van Dijk doesn't get a new contract and Joe Gomez moves on to pastures new in the summer all of which are very possible by the way then I think we are in a different space when it comes to centre-back still comfortable with Jamie Jacquet Giovanni Leone the aforementioned younger two as well they will step up at some point when they're when they're ready when they're good and ready but yeah I just think if the three that I mentioned at the top van Dijk Rauho and Gomez aren't at the football club next year you probably do need one more and you probably want it to be a more senior more experienced option which is where Liverpool's interest in Pierre Kalulu might stem from this has been reported for a few weeks now it hasn't gone away there's been further reports this morning from courts offside that Liverpool are ready to step up their interest in the Juventus centre-back 26 years old so again profile wise different to Yeltz more in keeping with what I think Liverpool might have to do if we end up being a bit yeah a bit young and wet behind the ears a centre-back and that's not to say the class isn't there Jamie Jacquet has been exceptional looks like beyond his years in terms of the way he's performed so far with the maturity that he showed but just in terms of that wealth of experience and that know-how I think we would need to sign one Joel Quanza definitely comes into this conversation as well so yeah lots to potentially happen I think in centre-back I think if Van Dijk was to stay on and Rauho was to stay and even Gomez was to stay it's different it's completely different but if one of two of maybe all three of them were to leave that changes everything in terms of what Liverpool need to do and Julian Ward need to do more accurately as well so yeah and what I was saying Kalulu is quite versatile so you can play across the back line a little bit as well which is again quite in keeping with Joe Gomez and maybe if he decides that time for a fresh challenge and whatever his future holds then Kalulu may well become a real contender in terms of replacements but yeah hopefully we'll need to replace many of our players because I'm relatively comfortable with the squad a couple more additions maybe in January certainly next summer and I think we're in a pretty healthy place especially if we can keep the likes of Vingamawa at the football club for the for the prolonged distance for the duration of his career hopefully because I thought it was exceptional the weekend as well speaking of maturity I thought he showed that in abundance coming on in difficult circumstances and playing really really well likewise training only for what it's worth he was good as well on a difficult afternoon right that's it hopefully you guys have a difficult afternoon hopefully have a brilliant Monday and indeed Tuesday and Wednesday and Thursday but I'll probably speak to you all before then so until next time take care I'll speak to you soon

The manager did say after the victory this weekend that Soboslai is a recurrence of the same injury and he said that it probably hasn't healed fully or right so that does pose the question was he rushed back a little bit too quickly? That would of course be down to the medical department to fill in the manager on what Dom's availability would and wouldn't be but either way it is a blow to us heading into a really really really busy time of the year.
Craig HouldenHOST
3:02
Now of course there are other options in the team and I'll try to work through them in my team selection We've caught Giovanni Leone and we got an update from the manager this week to say that it'll be the November international break before we see Giovanni back in and around the first team.
Craig HouldenHOST
3:15
And thankfully, Cody Gakbo, as you've seen, as well as Alexander Isak, did return to the matchday squads for the victory over Brentford.
Craig HouldenHOST
3:22
Although we're really waiting for after that is Conor Bradley.
Conor CrosbieHOST
9:47
I think I'd rather err on the side of caution with any injury.
Conor CrosbieHOST
9:51
I spoke the other day about the fact that I'm not really expecting much from Conor Bradley, Hugo Eketike, Giovanni Leone this year.
Conor CrosbieHOST
9:57
I think take your time with injuries.
Conor CrosbieHOST
9:59
Like you can't, you can't really afford to be aggravating injuries.
Craig HouldenHOST
17:42
And granted, yes, there's only one point between us and fourth, but we can't let that gap grow.
Craig HouldenHOST
17:47
And, you know, James Pearce's thought process there of the likes of Ekitike and Conor Bradley, uh, and Giovanni Leone coming back into the squad, I mean, I'm sure it's well-intentioned, but it is just silliness.
Craig HouldenHOST
17:58
Because we know it's gonna take a long time for these guys to get back to their best, and none of us are here trying to say we need to just sign players for the sake of it, but come on I mean, to just again try to say to Liverpool fans, don't expect much in January here.
Craig HouldenHOST
18:12
I mean, enough is enough.
Craig HouldenHOST
19:02
We also have Nduka, of course, who's over at Levante, Ndai.
Craig HouldenHOST
19:07
So we do have good young centre-backs coming through as well as, of course, Giovanni Leone.
Craig HouldenHOST
19:11
And while we're talking about Leone, actually a bit of an update from the press conference earlier on from Andoni.
Craig HouldenHOST
19:17
It seems like it'll be the November international break before Giovanni is back training properly with the first team.
RonSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
17:43
Hi, Andoni.
RonSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
17:43
Uh, first I wanted to ask if there's been any progress with Giovanni Leone.
Andoni IraolaSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
17:47
Yeah.
RonSOUNDBITE_SPEAKER
17:47
Uh, is- how close is he to returning to team training?
Fin TaylorHOST
59:26
Uh, and they consist of, like, real human veins, arteries and nerves preserved on wooden boards.
Fin TaylorHOST
59:31
That's an Italian guy called Giovanni Leone.
Fin TaylorHOST
59:34
Um, right.
Fin TaylorHOST
59:36
Anyway, uh, I think we'll probably have to leave this- Yeah ... episode here.
Craig HouldenHOST
1:34
So we've got some long-term absentees.
Craig HouldenHOST
1:36
Obviously, I'm thinking about the likes of Conor Bradley, Giovanni Leone.
Craig HouldenHOST
1:39
We expect Giovanni hopefully back in the near future, but with Bradley, it's still uncertain.
Craig HouldenHOST
1:44
Now, we also have short-term absentees.
LaksHOST
44:49
We've spoken about Trenioni.
LaksHOST
44:52
Leone as well, sorry, Giovanni Leone still hasn't had a game of football just yet as well, right? I'm sure there's a few youngsters there as well.
LaksHOST
45:01
Goalkeepers-wise, Mamadash really has still got a lot to prove as well, this campaign.
LaksHOST
45:06
So, excited.
