Both Secretary of State Denny Hoskins and Attorney General Catherine Hannaway contended that putting the referendum up for a vote would cause chaos, especially since Hoskins pressured local election officials to use the 2025 map for the August 4th primary.

But Missouri Supreme Court Judge Ginger Gooch's opinion included a scathing rebuttal to this argument.

She wrote, quote, Regardless of any confusion, expense, or practical difficulties caused by the Secretary's delay and incorrect assumption about whether the referendum petition would be deemed sufficient, simply continuing to utilize the congressional redistricting in the 2025 map does not comport with the Missouri Constitution because the 2022 map is the only map in effect.

I talked earlier this morning with both Secretary of State Denny Hoskins and Richard von Glahn, executive director of People Not Politicians, the group that spearheaded the referendum effort.

It comes exactly 51 weeks after the largest rally in the history of Missouri, where the people of the state told the politicians no to a DC-drawn map to rig our elections.

And we've been through a lot, but we have been clear on what the law was from day one.

What do you think it shows that this ruling was unanimous and that it was written by a Mike Parson appointee, Ginger Gooch?
