Stephen KilbeyHOST
24:49
They're always great in addition to the entry list, aren't they? Yeah.
Graham GoodwinHOST
24:52
And further up and down that order, because remember one of the very strong things about the SRO package, apart from its excellent stringing platform, which has huge numbers for Portimao, principally courtesy of Max Verstappen's entry, is some Really good other racing on the package, including a GT2 Championship win for Ginetta.
Graham GoodwinHOST
25:17
Fantastic.
Graham GoodwinHOST
25:18
Great stuff to see them coming in and punching.
Lando NorrisGUEST
28:44
I started racing when I was eight and stopped at the end of last year.
Lando NorrisGUEST
28:51
So last year I did the Ginetta and I also did the karting.
Lando NorrisGUEST
28:55
So it was a mix of both.
Lando NorrisGUEST
28:57
In
Lando NorrisGUEST
30:22
an aggressive affair, but yeah, I think we've had a lot of good racing together.
Lando NorrisGUEST
30:26
And
Nasser HameedCORRESPONDENT
30:26
in your 10-top career, one year of Ginetta, how did you do in that?
Lando NorrisGUEST
30:31
I finished third in the end.
Gary WatkinsGUEST
30:17
People are skipping it straight away and starting out perhaps in GT4, doing a year there, and then going into GT3.
Gary WatkinsGUEST
30:26
And a lot of these drivers are probably, sorry, a lot of British drivers who are doing that will have come out of this who are Ginetta drivers.
Gary WatkinsGUEST
30:34
um ladder if you like you know starting out as sort of before they've got a a road license doing janetta juniors and then maybe doing a year in one of the higher categories before going gt3
Mark StoneHOST
30:48
yeah
EllisHOST
1:37
Like-
DomHOST
1:37
I feel like the Ginetta is, the shape of the Ginetta is it just-
EllisHOST
1:39
Exactly
DomHOST
1:40
... awkward anyway, to be honest.
EllisHOST
3:01
Mm.
DomHOST
3:02
I mean, oh, well, I say I've rated mine a bit higher, but, um, my next one might not be.
DomHOST
3:06
Um, so I've gone for the other, uh, Ginetta of-
EllisHOST
3:10
Ginetta hater.
DanHOST
52:36
Yeah.
Adam JarpsGUEST
52:37
It's the only one, even when he did, like, the younger generations, like Ginetta and stuff, he's never even won those.
DanHOST
52:41
No.
Adam JarpsGUEST
52:41
This is the only one he'd ever, ever won.
Carl HartleyHOST
7:55
Yeah.
Carl HartleyHOST
7:55
Yeah, I used to sponsor a, a, a kid in Ginetta.
Carl HartleyHOST
7:58
He was a, a, a c- a friend's son, but also a client, and he, he...
Carl HartleyHOST
8:04
I don't sponsor him anymore, he got too expensive.
Mark TilburyGUEST
8:08
Mm.
Carl HartleyHOST
8:08
And, um, he's doing really well.
Mark TilburyGUEST
8:09
Yeah, Junior Ginettas was a fantastic class, and why they stopped it, I don't know.
Mark TilburyGUEST
8:14
It's ridiculous really.
speaker_0UNKNOWN
2:32
This is going to sound so name-droppy here, but myself, Martin Brundle, and Alex Brundle, and some other friends went karting and driving single-seaters, the 3000s.
speaker_0UNKNOWN
2:40
We had Ginettas as well, McLarens.
speaker_0UNKNOWN
2:44
We just spent the day driving, and I just really fell in love with the Ginettas.
speaker_0UNKNOWN
2:47
It feels like you're in Apollo 11. when you're behind the wheel of them, just all the old keyboard buttons and no thrills.
speaker_0UNKNOWN
2:55
I just love that.
Paul JurdHOST
53:26
But I thought it was quite interesting as well because we were, for once, seeing some other cars really just get in and amongst that horde of GT40s that try and dominate it.
Paul JurdHOST
53:35
And there was a Ginetta right up there.
Paul JurdHOST
53:37
And we know a Ginetta G4R can be very, very quick.
Paul JurdHOST
53:41
And apparently the Ginetta was actually topping 140 miles an hour on the straight.
Paul JurdHOST
53:47
So absolutely right up.
Paul JurdHOST
53:48
Yeah, that's going to get your attention.
Jim RollerHOST
53:54
Yeah, good point.
Paul JurdHOST
53:56
Yeah, it was.
EllisHOST
24:02
But it's one of those things where how much is it down to the car? And you have to question that when the gaps are as big as they were.
EllisHOST
24:11
We questioned it with the Ginetta throughout the earlier part of the season.
EllisHOST
24:17
It's only fair we question it now with the McLaren as well.
EllisHOST
24:19
So...
Lando NorrisGUEST
12:21
the main thing to adapt is the aero there's not much on the car but it's just getting to use that as much as possible and then with the genetta it's completely different because it's on the road tires and the car moves a lot um i mean there's a lot always a lot of sliding going on and so it's quite a hard car to to make perfect so i think they're both quite different i think It's probably a bit easier to be faster in the MSA car.
Lando NorrisGUEST
12:48
I think the Ginetta is pretty tough.
Lando NorrisGUEST
12:50
I think to be fast you have to be pretty good.
Lando NorrisGUEST
12:53
And of course the racing in the Ginetta is really good and also MSA last year.
Lando NorrisGUEST
12:58
It's a bit worse in MSA with overtaking.
Lando NorrisGUEST
13:03
Because of the aero you generally lose it when you get close to someone ahead of you.
