God's revealed things to me as time has gone on, because like I said, I didn't wake up one day.

I actually turned to my husband in the car when this kind of spiritual download came to me from the Lord.

As you very rightly point out, these are the important spaces in which the younger generation can practice critical debate, respectful dissent, which are absolutely crucial to the functioning of and flourishing of any liberal democracy.

Democracy and human rights are actions that need to be learned, and institutions, education institutions, universities, schools, and so on are the best place for learning this.

But precisely because of the closing of civic space and the possibility of the exercise of rights in university settings, we are losing that, and that is one of the biggest alerts since I took the mandate.

Specifically on the pro-Palestine movement, when I took the mandate in the 1st of May 2024, the mandate emails were flooded with allegations of human rights violations in universities worldwide for the pro-Palestinian movement and against genocide.

So what I did was to try to reach out with different groups of students, with different universities in different contexts to try to understand what was going on and especially to understand which was the role that the universities were playing in many different settings, fully private universities, also public universities, mixed ownership universities.

This is not a report.
