I found the film to be charming and refreshing as it was a great time capsule of Korea at the time that included cars of the time, the Gimpo airport, and the characters having to get film developed.

Watching it over 40 years after its release meant that I had a lot of distance from the time period it was created during and the audience it was intended for.

So that added to the experience for me.

That was fun because usually in Korean stuff, there's not a reason for me to go hunting for the car.

But this one was so much fun.

I also went looking at Gimpo Airport to see the difference because one of the early shots is of the front of the airport and it is so different.

It is way bigger.

Were there any overcharging incidents that became major talking points recently?

Well, one recent incident highlighted by various media outlets on Wednesday involves a Japanese tourist who took a taxi from Myeongdong in central Seoul to Gimpo International Airport and was charged 480,000 won or some 360 US dollars.

That's actually about 16 times the usual fare.

With their flight about to leave, the tourist reluctantly paid and left.

This is the story of Korean Air Flight 801.

It was just before 8pm on an August evening in 1997 when 237 passengers boarded a Korean Air Boeing 747 at Seoul's Gimpo Airport in South Korea.

Their destination was the island of Guam, a US territory in the Mariana Islands, three and a half hours flying time to the south.

For some passengers, this late night flight would be the last leg back home.

By evening they had reached a prearranged beachhead line six miles inland from the actual landing area.

The line, which included the port as well as the high ground east of Inchon, was deep enough to prevent enemy artillery fire on the landing and unloading areas and served as a base to seize Kimpo Airfield, the next objective, about halfway between Inchon and Seoul.

The Fifth Marines reached the edge of the airfield by eighteen hundred hours on seventeen September, taking the southern part within the next two hours.

The airfield's four hundred to five hundred defenders appeared surprised and were easily brushed aside.

Protecting Seoul to the south and southwest was the wide Han River.

The city was heavily damaged and presented a formidable obstacle, with numerous street barricades and enemy positions on the hills dominating its approaches.

The assault on the city would be aided somewhat by the recapture of Kimpo Airfield and its subsequent use by American close air support aircraft.

But indications were that the battle for the city would be far greater than had been the action at Inchon and the advance to the Han River.

His Sabre represents one lesson in the deadly education both sides are receiving about jet combat.
