jeez.
Dominic ByrneHOST
4:29
The son of, yes, the son of the Beatles guru, creator, producer, George Martin, Giles Martin, of course.
Chris MoylesHOST
4:36
You know you've had a busy week of interviewing people when you forget that George Martin's son was in the studio talking about the Beatles on Radio X and we forgot.
Dominic ByrneHOST
4:45
That's terrible.
Dominic ByrneHOST
4:47
It was on Monday,
Chris MoylesHOST
4:48
though, wasn't it? Wasn't it right at the start of the week?
Dominic ByrneHOST
4:50
Well, because we've had so many guests, it feels like a different week, doesn't it? So, yeah, and Giles Martin was awesome.
Dominic ByrneHOST
4:56
What a week.
TJ ShanoffHOST
31:30
Why would you show up in pubes? So, all right.
TJ ShanoffHOST
31:36
So in the Giles Martin interview that we heard with, I'm forgetting who at this point from the Beatles challenge series, I'm Dennis Elsis.
Tony MendozaHOST
31:44
Oh, it was, um, the guy with the pink Floyd haircut.
Tony MendozaHOST
31:46
Um, Oh, Roger Waters.
TJ ShanoffHOST
31:52
Frick.
TJ ShanoffHOST
31:54
That's Dave Frick to you, son.
TJ ShanoffHOST
31:57
Yeah, on that interview, what was so interesting was it was Giles Martin saying, you know, we basically put everything that's worth hearing on this.
TJ ShanoffHOST
32:04
There's nothing left.
JustinHOST
10:08
thickness to the song and so they've they've done a good job there and a lot of people don't like that the Beatles music has had that done to it I'm one of those that I don't have a problem with remastering and remixing because the original recordings are still there but you can also it's kind of interesting to hear these new ones brought out and you can hear things that you haven't heard before
AustinHOST
10:27
I think it's really cool having Giles Martin George Martin's son being involved in a lot of that kind of you know passing the torch down
JustinHOST
10:34
Yeah, it's interesting, and there is a lot of controversy there because there are Beatles fans that absolutely hate Giles messing with it, and there are some that love it.
JustinHOST
10:42
I, for one, don't have a problem with it because, like I said, the original recording still exists.

JustinHOST

Tyler is kind of bummed out and never been to Paul McCartney.
JustinHOST
39:37
I don't go to concerts often.
JustinHOST
39:38
and you're running out of time i know i'm saying but paul plays a ton of songs but this is not one that's been on his current touring set list these days he pretty much relies very heavily on his best known hits from the beatles obviously from his wings era a little bit from his solo era it has popped up a little bit in his tour but not very often and rubber soul is an album that really hasn't got the full remix from giles martin i think people were expecting it in 2025 being its 60th anniversary but it didn't happen and So I guess we're not going on that direction, but it really is the next album that needs to be done unless they're going to go back to the first.
JustinHOST
40:21
I don't know.
Ed ChenHOST
32:55
It's kind of a spiritual cousin to George's version of I Really Love You.
Ed ChenHOST
33:01
But no, this is a great version, and Giles Martin would remix it for the George Harrison Greatest Hits album.
Ed ChenHOST
33:10
Yeah.
Ed ChenHOST
33:11
If you haven't heard this one, go and find it.
Chris MoylesHOST
41:29
We've actually got...
Chris MoylesHOST
41:32
Al Nash and Celeste Pring from SNL UK coming in and also Giles Martin later to talk about the Beatles.
Chris MoylesHOST
41:39
I'll explain after Biffy.

Chris MoylesHOST
74:56
George Martin's son.
Chris EvansHOST
0:12
So let's welcome a man who always gets the music started.
Chris EvansHOST
0:15
It's Giles Martin! CHEERING Oh, my gosh, Giles! Giles, what are you doing to me? What are you doing to my head? It's so nice to be here.
Chris EvansHOST
0:32
It's nice to be...
Chris EvansHOST
0:33
And
Chris EvansHOST
5:17
And somehow if you get that pattern recognition and you put it all together, you come up with the future by accident almost,
speaker_2UNKNOWN
5:23
don't you? Yeah.
Chris EvansHOST
5:25
So, son of George, Giles Martin, I think we might have a true or false about this about your dad, about professions.
Chris EvansHOST
5:33
I think we have a true or false about it, don't we? Is it true that your dad didn't want you to follow in his footsteps? Absolutely.

We've got some new episodes coming soon, but this week we thought we'd revisit one of our favorite early episodes and do our best Giles Martin remix and remaster, complete with tons more music and more gags.
CaseyNARRATOR
0:48
We're really proud of this one, and we hope you enjoy this super deluxe edition of Beetle Bottoms, originally recorded in September 2020.
CaseyNARRATOR

And as always, my favorite part.
Greg LaurieHOST
26:25
They've remastered it.
Greg LaurieHOST
26:26
Giles Martin, the son of George Martin who produced The Beatles, has, is bringing it back again.
Greg LaurieHOST
26:32
But-
Jeremy BoreingGUEST
26:32
Wow
JayHOST
28:25
Man, if you're trying to keep up with these Beatles repackagings and re-releases, you're not going to have a lot of pocket change.
JayHOST
28:35
But I want to get that because Giles Martin, George Martin's son, who is kind of the caretaker of the sound of the Beatles, they were able to get this and remix it.
JayHOST
28:54
And I need to give it a listen.
JayHOST
28:56
I haven't listened to it online because I want to get it on vinyl.
Andy RintmoreHOST
57:33
With that said,
Harry WilliamsHOST
57:34
though, I'm pretty sure it was The Beach Boys who started mucking around remixing stuff in Atmos and 5.1 and stuff before little Giles Martin.
Harry WilliamsHOST
57:44
Anyway, let's not restoke this old rivalry.
Andy RintmoreHOST
57:46
So, yeah, so this is brilliant, and it's very exhaustive.
