Gil Hanse coming off the mountaintop of a season-long championship.

He, along with everybody else, we got the Irish Open picks.

Good field there.

And Kerry, you know, the PGA of America made a big investment.

I worked a little bit with Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner in the golf course that got built down there.

It's a new facility, new operation, and I don't know how much time you spend there, but that was, you know, sort of a bold move to leave Florida and go to Texas.

But I'm more interested in the golf course itself.

And, uh, the complex in Frisco, there's actually 36 holes.

Bo Welling designed the west course.

As you say, Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner built the east course.

The original plan was for us to sort of be involved with as they were building it, but they actually built the golf course right During and in the middle of the COVID.

We'll do picks in the fall.

Uh, but Gil Hanse, poised for the greatest accomplishment of his career, truly.

And he's built some great golf courses and certainly resuscitated many of the greats.

This would be the greatest thing that he's ever done in golf.

Our picks, our standings, let's get to them.

Uh, standings have been updated.

Gil continues to lead, and Brendan hot on his heels.

He flipped the script, Gil did two weeks ago.

We're getting closer.

Now, that's it for Australia, ladies and gentlemen, but we're going to jump across to New Zealand because I've got one I want to share with you, and that is an update from Hogan Gully that's being designed by Gil Hanse and Greg Turner working together.

And I've seen some images from Hogan Gully itself, and I've got to tell you, it's looking very, very impressive.

Some details about Hogan Gully, which I haven't talked about in the past.

So, you know, you know, holes along the top of the ridge, and then it falls left and right either side, if that makes sense.

So it's um, it's interesting.

It's a highly anticipated golf project is Hogan Gully, and you've got Gil Hanse on board, which is huge.

You've got Greg Turner involved, which is huge, uh, from a New Zealand perspective.

... um, that is amazing and, and none of it's getting showcased.

Yeah, Gil Hanse is like the...

You know, 'cause he did the Olympics in Tokyo.

Yeah, he's the GOAT.

So I, I think that's the whole thing.

It's like...

But I would love to see some courses like go back to like their old days and like rip it up and let Gil Hanse, Tom Doak, whoever it is, like rip it up and make it, make it what it was back in the, back in the day and make it, you know, rugged because a lot of these courses were rugged, and that's the s- whole style that's coming, coming back.

Yeah.

So, you know, we've, we've talked a lot about that and what that could look like.

And, and at the very beginning of our deal, he asked me, and I guess he asked Gil Hanse too, if we would consider putting our archives at the club.

Um, which I didn't, I wasn't 100% sure what level he was talking about when we started, but I didn't have an obvious place to do it at the time.

You know, I've got, like, a bunch of stuff in my office that who knows where that goes years from now.

And so they look at Prestwick and they go, "We can't do stuff like that anymore." You know, once you've been indoctrinated of, this is what you can do now in modern design, and this kinda stuff is outdated, going to those places doesn't help you near as much.

But if you can get in somebody's mind early of the full range of possibilities that exist in the world, that's a whole different deal.

And that's what, that's what I think I got out of that, and Gil Hanse got out of that, that most other guys never got to do.

I mean, I, I think this is true across so many industry preconceived notions.

And listen, like, the golf course has way more space than it had in 2013.

Gil Hanse did a re- a, a historical renovation, uh, on it.

And he expanded a lot of fairways.

He expanded a lot of playing areas.

... things that are, you know, it's a hit and go.

Uh, but it's kinda funny how things come back around, and now you got Gil Hanse and, uh, Tyler Ray and Andrew Green and some of these, you know, Tom Doak, some of these hot names in the, in the design industry are, are doing those things with different clubs out there and, and it's really ...

You know, COVID has done the, the golf business a huge favor by helping us boom and getting more people interested, young people.

And people with money, people that don't have money are still, they're playing golf.

Uh, but his shaper at the time, a guy named Jim Urbina, also does a lot of golf course architect work out there.

Yeah.

A lot of renovations, a lot like Gil Hanse.

Uh, he's worked with, at Pasatiempo.
