Gibson Les Paul

Great for radio.

It's a, those of you who know, it's a Les Paul.

Those of you who really know, it's actually a Les Paul copy.

So I've dated it to anywhere between 1976 and 1980.

It is what is known as a lawsuit era, Les Paul, because it's not made by the Gibson Company in... wherever they're supposed to be made, Memphis or something.

It was made by a brand called Aria Pro 2 in Japan.

They copied the exact dimensions of the contemporary gibson les paul standard uh down to the wiring of the pickups the neck shape the uh the headstock um all of the wiring all that good stuff and they just said hell no this is not a gibson les paul this is a aria pro 2 ls lp 30 um it's known as a lawsuit era because it only exists for four years gibson sued them into not existing anymore that's generally there's a fun like these guitars are not expensive guitars because they were never marketed as expensive guitars but they outplay a lot of the contemporary good stuff all that being said i started going down this fun rabbit hole of oh how many times has have these big guys like sued these little guys uh turns out fender You know them.

I was about to say John Mayer plays them.

I know the Les Pauls have that kind of thing.

I know it's like

an inlay boarding.

Yeah, that's the thing.

One of his main guitars is a Gibson Les Paul, which is a big, heavy guitar in the hands of a normal person.

But like you say, it just looks like a toy guitar in his hands.

Anyway, sad times.

when you grab a Les Paul versus a Telecaster-

Yeah, it's just-

... you start playing different things on it

But especially it's funny that you mentioned the British sound because here recently I've been playing through like this half stack like Marshall like Plexi 1959 like sound with my amp.

And then when you pair that with, like, a Les Paul on the bridge pickup, like, there's no getting away from, like, that sound that you're talking about.

The tone, sure.

The, like, Led Zeppelin vibe, the Eric Clapton.

And so those are the people that come to mind, I guess, when I think of slide playing.

And yeah, I need to play more of it.

Here lately, I've just been ripping on the guitar, just... know my les paul my strats so it'd be fun i mean i have i do have like a 30s like dobro when i'm home and i like to play it like at home that's really fun like do some like open open chords with it and and get and do some like delta inspired um playing do you tune

your guitar um are you using a knee tuning just a standard tuning uh when you play

Totally.

I remember like going to my parents and being like, okay, so like, there's this thing called like a Les Paul.

And they're like, Oh, like, absolutely not.

Like, there's no way like not a chance like we're getting you that.

Nice.

What did you track this with from a guitar perspective?

Uh, so for both of these, so, um, We did, I personally did an SG, Gibson SG, and then I don't remember, like, what kind of Les Paul, but, like, some Les Paul.

Like, Koya has always been an SG or a Les Paul kind of band.

Robert Shull Goddard, 49, is accused of smashing a glass door and breaking into a Nashville area home on January 29th, stealing a TV and a gun from the residence, according to records filed in the Davidson County Court, per the AP.

He allegedly stole a black Gibson Les Paul custom guitar, which later sold, and this is the true crime, later sold for $40 per WKRN.

Well, it depends on the guitar, but you're not going to touch that guitar, even a cheap one, for less than $400 to $600.
