Ghostbusters

It's not a perfect movie, but I like it a lot.

Um, so yeah, i- if I were doing one of those lists, then Ghostbusters Afterlife would be up there.

And, and I would count Ghostbusters Afterlife, by the way, because I, uh, because I know that Ghostbusters 2016 was about five years before Ghostbusters Afterlife.

But Afterlife was a direct sequel to the, you know, original Ivan Reitman Ghostbusters movies.

So I would count it as a legacy sequel personally.

People do not like this season, and by people, I mean reviewers on IMDb.

And to quote my favorite underrated film, the all-females Ghostbusters reboot, mostly dudes, um, are not liking this season.

And I agree.

Like, the character development this season alone I think has been better than our, the first three seasons combined.

Like, I think...

Ghostbusters 2016 really forced the issue.

It forced a lot of political discussions.

You know, you had like, you know, Feige openly discussing Gamergate and stuff like that.

Like, yeah.

It's a private carceral state for ghosts is what they wind up making as, like, their fun times business model.

And I think that, like, you know, like, when, you know, like, sorry to keep bringing up Ghostbusters 2016.

No, that's okay.

So

you remember when they were remaking movies with black people and women that they'd already made with white people and that was a- Ghostbusters.

Yeah.

Ghostbusters.

That was a tough time for some people.

And honestly, I don't want to call that a heyday for me, but I fucking loved it.

Not because I need a Lady Ghostbusters movie.

Don't care.

I was, I was afraid this was gonna be like a, uh, the Ghostbusters remake with all the women.

Mm-hmm.

When there was so much discourse about it, and then everybody was like, "It's hilarious!" And then I went and watched it, and I was like-

They didn't really use them.

And while I don't think that this movie I'm about to mention is a good movie, I think that it wasn't until the Ghostbusters of 2016...

Someone finally realized we can use Hemsworth in a comedic way really well.

It finally untapped a new level to his acting.

Yeah.

Online alt-right wingers levied a misogynistic and racist harassment campaign against the film and its cast, specifically targeting Leslie Jones for being a black woman.

Milo led his hundreds of thousands of followers on Twitter to dogpile on her and posted a barrage of tweets himself, calling her, quote, barely literate, a black caricature, and a black dude.
