Ghazw

Now, the word Mu'tah, expedition, we're using the word expedition as opposed to battle because this is a Sariyya.

What's the difference between Sariyya and Ghazwah? The Prophet participated himself.

Yeah.

So the Ghazwah is the one in which the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam himself participated, and Sariyya is in which he- Nominated ...

he nominated somebody.

He sent the Sahaba.

So this is called the Sariyyah of Ibn Abi al-Awja Sulami.

Remember we said one is a Ghazwah, one is a Sariyyah.

A battle in which the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam takes place, ta- takes part and participates himself is called a Ghazwah.

And one in which he doesn't go himself, but he sends the Sahaba, we call it Sariyyah.

So like this, there were many small battles, skirmishes, small fights that took place.
