Gezer

The descendants of Ephraim lived in the territory that included Bethel and its surrounding towns to the south.

Naharan to the east, Gezer and its villages to the west, and Shechem and its surrounding villages to the north, as far as Eya and its towns.

No mention of pasture lands in this one.

I wonder why.

And then here's another one.

They did not dislodge the Canaanites living in Gezer.

To this day, the Canaanites live among the people of Ephraim, end quote, Joshua 16, 10.

These quotations are referencing events that occurred at the locations, various locations in the Bible.

So we had a whole array of different approaches.

It was an issue of muqtus la-shnolat, it was the Shuvachonam, it was the Gezerah, everything under the sun, and then finally the Gemara, this is the fourth of the official reasons, and that's the third one from the Taber of Yitzchak.

If you want to make a gezerah of an egg, which one of the two is an egg closer to? Is it an egg closer to fruit, or is it an egg closer to juice? So the answer is that an egg is a little bit closer to fruit, because after all, an egg has the characteristic it's a solid food, and pears are a solid food.

But for Gimashkin, this is in contrast to drinks, to juices, to Lev Okhla.

So if you have to compare one to another, it's a closer comparison to the Gezerah of Peiwes HaNosherin, rather than Mashi Isher Zavu.

Then going from Bethel to Luz, it passes along to Adaroth, the territory of the Arkites.

Then it goes down westward to the territory of the Japhletites, as far as the territory of lower Beth Horon, and to Gezer, and it ends at the east.

The people of Joseph, Manasseh, and Ephraim received their inheritance.

The territory of the people of Ephraim by their clans as was follows.

So the Jebusites dwell with the people of Judah at Jerusalem to this day.

This is chapter 16, verse 10.

However, they did not drive out the Canaanites who lived in Gezer.

So the Canaanites have lived in the midst of Ephraim to this day, but have been made to do forced labor.

Chapter 15.

The descendants of Ephraim included Rapha, Resheph, Telah, Tahan, Ladan, Amihud, Elashima, Nun, and Joshua.

The descendants of Ephraim lived in the territory that included Bethel and its surrounding towns to the south, Neron to the east, Gezer and its villages to the west, and Shechem and its surrounding villages to the north, as far as Ayah and its towns.

Along the border of Manasseh were the towns of Bet-Shan, Tanakh, Megiddo, Dor, and their surrounding villages.

The descendants of Joseph, son of Israel, lived in these towns.

Then David and all the army returned to Jerusalem.

After this, war broke out with the Philistines at Gezer.

As they fought, Sibachai from Hushah killed Saf, a descendant of the giants, and so the Philistines were subdued.

During another battle with the Philistines, Elhanan, son of Jair, killed Lahmi, the brother of Goliath of Gath.
