The Quakers, though, in Germantown specifically, in Philadelphia, have created a financial reparations program by way of grants.

to offer to Black local Philadelphia residents to address historic economic harms done.

And it's a church, it's a Quaker church.

So I hope they're contributing as well.

But this is great.

September 28, all the expected reinforcements, except the state regiment and militia from Virginia being arrived and the detached parties being called in, the effective strength of the army amounted to 8,000 continental troops and 3,000 militia.

With this force General Washington determined to approach the enemy and seize the first favorable moment to attack him.

September 30, in pursuance of this determination the army took a position on the Skip Pack Road about 20 miles from Philadelphia and 16 from Germantown, a long village stretching on both sides the great road leading northward from Philadelphia which forms one continued street nearly two miles in length.

The British line of encampment crossed this village at right angles near the center and Lord Cornwallis with four regiments of grenadiers occupied Philadelphia.

Green Street had been doing racial justice work for years.

As a matter of fact, you can't blame any community for claiming a World Series participant.

I remember a couple of years ago, through a typographical error, Al Shandienst of the Cardinals was listed as hailing from Germantown, Pennsylvania, and all of Germantown, Illinois was righteously up in arms.

maybe even chalk drawings or graffiti.

But what about poetry? Today, we're heading to the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia, where a public art project is bringing poetry to the streets to help the community heal from the grief and trauma of gun violence.

Healing Verse Germantown began as a series of poetry writing workshops for Germantown residents.

Now, their poems have been transformed into public art installations across the community, from bus wraps to vases to a 24-hour poetry hotline.

The program was developed as part of Bloomberg Philanthropies Public Art Challenge, which awards grants of up to $1 million to cities across the United States to fund public art initiatives.

When it comes to crafting, that's really big.

There's craft collective which is focused on arts and crafts for communities of color so they'll do events whether it's making bag charms to junk journaling they have a few events that happen each month and the ticket costs aren't too bad are usually about like ten dollars or so usually ranges on the type of event that they're hosting and being mindful of supplies My dye garden studio in Germantown, they run different workshops from sewing classes to embroidery.

But one thing they have is a community day every Sunday around 2 p.m. And people can just come in and work on whatever craft project that they're doing, you know, from crochet to someone was like working on a quilt one day I was there.

Multiverse, which is a game store in Philly, they're actually holding a game night at Baker Street Cafe on Germantown Ave. It's starting Thursdays, September 17th through November.
