Geraniums

Um, those clinical trials in the UK are much harder to do than in Africa because regulations here are much, much stricter, and in general, the system is sort of, uh, biased against herbal medicine, so it makes it very hard to do that type of research.

But the team in Southampton has a great setup, and so we've been involved in various clinical trials of, for example, um, Arctostaphylos uva-ursi for urine infections, Pelargonium for, um, bronchitis, Andrographis for cough, um, and most recently, a Chinese, um, mixture of eight herbs called Shu Feng Jie Du for acute exacerbations of COPD.

Um, so that's been really interesting as well, um, and, um, has yielded some quite interesting results.

So like I was saying, for Andrographis, which is a really strong candidate, uh, we weren't able to find a GMP preparation in which we could do a clinical trial in the UK, uh, a full-scale clinical trial.

And the team in Switzerland faced the same issue.

They, they tried to find one, they couldn't get one, so in the end they switched to Pelargonium.

So Pelargonium is, um, marketed as Coloba.

... native carrot, Leucasidium.

Pelargonium.

Stipa gracilis.

The Dodonaea, the, um, magenta stork's bill, the Tillandsia [laughs], little Crassulas as well, which they've probably come up themselves-

There's a lovely little rise in front of us that's, um, chock-full of little wildflowers.

Yeah.

So Pelargonium rodneyanum is just doing its thing.

Yeah.

Okay, so you wear a lot of hats.

Yeah, I wear quite a few hats, but for the first couple of years, so one of Aphrodite's primary species that we trade in is Pelargonium Pseudoides, which may not, it's not really very well used plant in America, but it's a very well used plant in Europe, in the Middle East, a cough mixture.

Yeah, I was looking that up and I was really surprised I was in the geranium family.

And then two out of all the plants, you're using a plant from the geranium family.

And it thrives, interestingly, you were also talking about relationship with the animals in the areas.

Mm-hmm.

It thrives with grazing animals because the biggest risk to Pelargonium sedoides is actually bush encroachment.

Bush encroachment on grasslands, specifically surrounding the whole idea of climate change and how that creates bush encroachment on grasslands.

He kicked pretty well.

Um, and justice Muscata pointed this out too.

I wasn't really paying attention, but his kickoffs were pretty on point as well, where I don't think he had any touchbacks, but, which mcmanus did quite a bit far too often and he pinned him like they were receiving the ball at like within the 10 yard line you know so that's what you want to aim for as a as a kicker so do you guys feel uh there's been a couple practices since he missed one today from like 47 but other than that i think he's made all of them but do you guys feel better about trace mac now
